Hi,

Is there any way to tell what Gen version a ClockworkMod backup was made from. I converted my phone to Gen2 at the weekend and backed up before hand but I've got three backups in the folder and I know the first one is Gen1 and the third one is Gen2 but I don't know what the middle one is.

Thanks

I don't think so, unfortunately.

Ok, thanks for the quick reply.

What would be the consequences if I restored a Gen1 backup to a Gen2 phone or vice versa.

Your phone probably wouldn't boot up (not sure) and the recovery version might be incompatible with the respective Gen so it could turn a bit problematic. Don't try it though!

Think the recovery would still work as the clockwork backup wouldn't change that.

the nandroid will flash the recovery you had when it was made. aswell as the rom.

so if you made a backup on gen1. then upgraded to gen2. then restored the backup. it would write the gen1 recovery and gen1 rom to a gen2 phone.

it would fail to boot. and recovery would not work.

you would have to flash a gen2 recovery via fastboot or re-tpt to get your phone working again.

therefore my advice is DONT DO IT!

Right, so taking that on board, can you work out when you installed the gen2? Did you copy it or any other files to the sd card immediately before running it if so can check the time it was written to sd card?
