need to install market or new OS

Look I got this phone with android 2.1 but no market app it looks like an old OS and I dont know the correct terminology do I need to root? flash or What just need the rigth direcction I dont want to get rid of this phone I really like it

but I cant install nothing on it.

Alright I know how you can get working with this. I am new to these phones as I just got mine in May. Being as you are new to these phones I don't want to make it too confusing. You should read this branch of the forum as it pertains to the phones that we both have which is the S120 here . You will want to download the updated Download Tool found here. Then you can update to the newest version of 2.2 which would be found here. If you do enough reading on the first link I sent you you will be able to figure out how to do this update and you will have the newest Official Acer release. I am running 2.3.4 on mine on Gingerouney 2.0. Once you read enough you will figure out how to upgrade further but this will give you a good start. I knew nothing 3 months ago.
