Guest mc78torino Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 I know, I'm new and you all will hate after my request B) :) I'm aware of the fact that there is a poll related to which is your favourite rom bla bla; that said, this wonderful big forum is sooo big and infos are going all around but not exactly in the final place: your mind. It seems to me there's a lack of coordination regarding some basic needs common users would like to benefit without becoming crazy to find inside the topics.I don't criticize, simply I'd like to share an idea to better find those answers. The idea/question regards basic points, from the genuine real reliable point of view of honest everyday roms users: 1) Asking which is the favorite rom in relation to ONLY BATTERY USAGE AND LENGTH (PREFERABLY ON "ADULT" USAGE NO FRILLS,NOT JUST GAMES AND FUNNY WASTE OF TIME, BALANCED FOR EVERYDAY'S COMMON TASKS + JUST A LITTLE OF "TIME WASTING GAMES ETC.", PLEASE), specifying which Blade OLED/GEN1/2, eventually without too many customization, using it in a "most possible naked version" 2)Asking the favorite rom regarding the most reliable usage for average everyday common task,I mean 40% office 40% personal 20% mix usage/waste of time, with an eye winking still on battery length.. 3)Asking the favorite rom considering point 1 and 2 but with an honest and hands-on approach opinion regarding the AUDIO LOW VOLUME ISSUE especially for calls, indicating the hopefully workaround for it(with additional software to install and/or affordable headphones to buy updated-version).Eventually the wifi fix too to be mentioned, but probably the audio is more important. 4)Eventually divide the poll with 2 sub-answers for each question, I mean: A) You consider yourself a newbie or beginner?CLICK HERE. ;) Are you an advanced/expert/cooker/mod/nerd or you'll kill someone if he says you are a noob?CLICK HERE. Doing in this way I think that it would be useful to have statistics from "normal average users" and from more tekno-skilled users, so that everyone could better understand which rom covers his needs. I'd like to include every generation of roms, from the 2.1 to the latest Nightly, I'm sure that after months a lot of people have tried almost everything here, therefore my request, now probably the common shared users' experience could be "scientifizied" for the best personal one with the best ever Blade. Thank you for understanding a noob-prof(essional) user, hopefully it could become a pinned topic useful for all the Blade users' world (I have a dream.. :D )
Guest Mushroom_Lord Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 I read it all. As a word of advice part 3 is not really that relevant, as it can be increased by the likes of volume+, dsp manager, a cwm zip (no idea if that still works though) and other such apps... Don't forget 2d and 3d performance etc too... And err...have fun wit that :)
Guest mc78torino Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 TL;DR :) don't understand acronism,sorry, in longer please?
Guest t0mm13b Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 don't understand acronism, sorry, in longer please? Uhmmmm am actually shocked that you've never uhmmm done it.... as Nike slogan is "Just Do It".... :)
Guest targetbsp Posted June 24, 2011 Report Posted June 24, 2011 (edited) The mods have commented on how time consuming the current poll is - hence the infrequent resets I guess! So I can't see you have much luck unless you make the poll yourself. :) There isn't even that large a choice of popular roms. Most of them are superseded by something newer or just tweaks of a few common base roms. I think you've actually got more questions than I would consider there being separate current, popular roms. B) How can you expect to receive accurate data on most of them? There isn't enough users... Edited June 24, 2011 by targetbsp

Thanks to you all.I understand,I can see it's asking too much for too little, but I hoped it was not such a pain in the S. About acronyms I don't catch them, sorry, I'm not English and not "forum slang" expert and even if I speak other 3 and a half foreign languages, when I don't use google I prefere asking people what I'm not aware of. I just wanted to find a way to fit better my and other users' needs with the aim of organizing infos in a "standard" way,not a problem if it is not possible or not worthy to do, I've simply underestimated the whole thing. BTW, thanks. Edited June 24, 2011 by mc78torino
Guest JolyonS Posted June 24, 2011 Report Posted June 24, 2011 I know, I'm new and you all will hate after my request Well it was a bit of a "everyone do a lot of work to tell me which ROM most precisely fits my particular requirements" post. But if you are interested in battery life nothing I have tried so far beats the Ginger Stir Fry (and presumably the variants thereon).

I'm not used to writing and using forums online, hence my request.I don't want the "ready meal",each rom is different, but I was trying to suggest a method to help (me,of course, why not?) people to find better what they could need. Could you just tell me if I have to wipe from a GEN1 with Nightly 97 using UNIVERSAL CONVERTER to any latest CM7/NIGHTLY/GINGER or not?I'd like avoiding reinstalling all the stuff..

It's a good idea but just a lot of effort. If you go to a Ginger then you'll need to full wipe. If you go to a later Nightly e.g. N104. then you should just wipe dalvik cache and cache in recovery.

I've heard about CM7 V5, Blue Ginger, Japanese Jellyfish, but am not sure what key difference they have. Kindly enlighten me.

Blue Ginger is another by Psyloid based on a ZTE Gingerbread leak by Wbaw. Japanese Jellyfish is quite an old Froyo leak and it's been replaced by Swedish Spring. There's a pinned thread with a list of nearly all the ROM's for more info.
