I've found a method of converting a ZTE Blade to a ZTE Libra. The author declares that:

Advantages of doing this:
better network reception
HSUPA enabled, screenshot to follow
850mhz enabled for GSM and 3G
CM7 will be updating to this after CM7 is declared stable[/codebox]

[codebox]Disadvantages:
cant use any Blade rom
[8]cant use CM7 at present
cant use tpt method
cant use fastboot unless by ADB.
cant downgrade to Blade baseband

Could this be a solution for HSUPA and 850mhz support?

They said that about gen 2 lol.

In fact, exactly that.

In fact, based on the date of that post it probably is referring to what is now gen2...

Yep, it looks like it's about updating to Gen 2.

I think hecatae posted the original instructions for upgrading to Gen2 on another forum, which is what you have found. A small minority of people found that HSUPA works, but the majority didn't and all my extensive attempts to enable it didn't work. I don't know of any proper test done into 850Mhz.

The Libra must've been sold as a Gen 2 handset hence the reason it says 'convert to ZTE Libra'.
