Out mountain biking today and phone in its case, in rucksack got slightly damp. Was working fine though when i gave it a wipe. Got back home and it suddenly went off as if the battery life just drained. Plugged in charger and works fine on charge, sending texts etc. It got to 99% charge, made a strange tone I had not heard before and it went from 99% to 5%!!

I have now taken back off phone and put it in bowl of rice in airing cupboard.

Any other suggestions please?

You're doing the right thing with the rice. Just be patient and let it dry for a few hours.

Have you taken out the components e.g. the SD card and battery or just the back cover?

Yeah taken out sim, sd card and battery. Just put phone and battery lose in rice bowl.

Hope it works as still love this phone. Had it less than a year so dont know if i would get away with repair under warranty?!

That's fine.

It should, I've read of phones being dropped in toilets and still working fine after.

Hmm, who did you buy it from? I wonder if there's a seal of some sort that says 'void' if damp or something along those lines.

@K0zmic...Well I cant find one...let me just dampen it...

I don't think there is one (don't give them the idea :))

You should probably be able to get it returned under warranty if all else fails, just make sure there is o trapped water anywhere B)

And for future reference of anyone reading this thread:

Really, if anything electrical gets damp the first thing you should do is remove the battery/power supply to stop short circuiting

I'm sure there's one of those little spots that goes red if it gets damp under the battery. FWIW I have dropped a phone (not my Blade), down the loo and I left it drying in the airing cupboard for a good few hours, it was fine but the white spot had gone red so I wouldn't have been able to return it as faulty.

Ah I see. But some retailers may not even bother to check i.e. Argos so you might get lucky. If it's an e-tailer then I'm guessing they'd be more 'strict' regarding replacements.
