Hi all

As I’ve noted in another post, ZTE will not release official updates when leaked ROMs make it out into the wild.

Regarding supplying a Gingerbread update ZTE said:

"Like all large handset ODMs, ZTE has very defined R&D plans and redirecting funds for unofficial projects at short notice does not make commercial sense."

To point one - Sounds like a weak excuse, this is ZTEs responsibilty surely? stop ROMs from leaking and your problem goes away but don't blame individuals for making best use of code that is leaked if ZTE won't release updates.

Point two - makes ZTE the same as every other manufacturer, of course you're in it for the money, that's what business is all about. You want your products to have a well defined (fairly short) lifespan so joe public has to buy a new phone to get the next great set of features, releasing too many updates for one phone affects sales of your next one.

the OP doesn't seem clear to me. has Steep interpreted it correctly, or are you saying that ZTE will not make a 2.3 ROM simply because we have found a leaked one (which proves that they are working on one anyway...)

don't agree.

we could make even better ones with the source code. there is only so far you can go hacking the old .32 kernel.
