Guest sunshine333 Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope maybe somebody has some advice. So I was using my phone tonight, going to make a call and suddenly I realized that my softkeys were no longer working. I restarted it, same problem. I rebooted into recovery (malez) and still no response from them. It seems like it must be a physical problem. Has this happened to anybody else? Does anybody have an idea of how to fix it? I've read a few other posts of people who replaced their screen and broke a cable that disabled their softkeys, but I have never opened my phone and it hasn't suffered any major falls or anything recently, just normal use. I am using a replacement program now to simulate the keys, but this means I won't be able to flash any new roms because I can't select any menu options in Malez Recovery. This may be nearing the end of my Liquid A1 journey...
Guest mstation Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 this has just happened to me right now, have you uninstalled or installed something? because this just happened to me after i have been downloading and installing some apps.. then i took a few away and i can't remember which ones i took off and now the phone doesn't have the soft keys working anymore.. i just i will have to flash with acer tools..
Guest Fallenso Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 If you have LN 1.3.1 flashed, just go to the LN parts and set sensitivity for softkeys at 25.
Guest sunshine333 Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 Two things I installed recently: Update to Liquidnext 1.3.1 and Swype 3. Strangely, they've started working again now! I did play around with the settings a bit in the Liquidnext program for softkey sensitivity, but the settings appeared to be the same as they were before the update from 1.3 to 1.3.1. After messing with them I got the softkeys back. Now everything seems to be back to normal. Very strange and slightly scary. Luckily I knew of a program called zmooth (softkey replacer) from using it on my Nook Color so I was able to navigate menus.
Guest sunshine333 Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 Does seem to be a bug of some sort with 1.3.1. Thank goodness that's cleared up.
Guest mstation Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 i followed this and it solved my issue aswell: I had the softkeys issue as well (the keys stopped working). Going to Softkey settings and changign the value back to 15 solved the issue.

Guest SmithyBeatz Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 what a coincidence, got a new leather-case for the liquid, but its realy tight. i thought i had crashed my phone, as i reallized that the softkeys arnt working anymore, because i pushed the phone in really hard. so i didnt thought about a software issue. Yesterday i orderd a Nexus S and today i see this post. Just changed the sensitivity settigns back to 15 and everything works. Now im looking forward to the Nexus s and sent my Liquid via ebay out in the world.
Guest Chewy11 Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 LNP set softkey to 15 if youre on Liquidnext

Guest -Zaka- Posted July 3, 2011 Report Posted July 3, 2011 I got the same problem yesterday, I was scared like never xD Thanks for the fix!!!
Guest usju Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 Just happened to me too. I was on Liquidnext 1.3.1 for 2 days and updated to 1.4 yesterday. Strangely enough, they dont work in Malez Recovery too which makes me think its hardware issue. Confirmed changing softkeys sensitivity from 18 to 15 solves it.
Guest zorginho Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 (edited) I think that add the softkey sensitivity to LNP was an unhappy choice. The only safe method to change the softkey sensitivity is to flash a rom Acer based, go to settings, display, set it, and then flash another rom. Edited July 4, 2011 by zorginho
