Newbie - Needs to return Orange dodgy SF

I bought a TFT SF in Jan 11 from Orange and via info on this forum was able to unlock it and put JJF9 on it.

However, ever since I got it I have had poor wifi and have been thinking of returning it. Now the speaker for calls has started distorting badly so it needs to go back to Orange.

Problem is that it needs to be put back to originally shipped condition.

I have read through lots of posts on this forum and I am pretty confused as to what one needs to do. There appears to lots of partial guides but nothing definitive. I noticed in the FAQ section it mentions TPT as the best option but I do not understand the steps involved in doing that.

I am also not sure if the b20 mentioned will put my phone back to how I got it or to some updated orange state.

I am sure there most be lots of people out there that love the OSF but have been let down by h/ware problems and would like to swap it but are not sure what to do.

So if somebody would not mind writing out a step by step guide without too much technobabble I for one would appreciate it.

Ok - I figured some of this out and have managed to use the b08 stock rom to revert the phone to Orange using clockworkmod.

However, I have a couple of outstanding issues:

1/ How do I get rid of clockworkmod ?

2/ I noticed the buld number in "About Phone" is the same as the zip file name of the stock rom - OUK_P729BV1.0.0B08. Should I have renamed it to something else before using it or is this the name of the orange stock rom as shipped?

It's basically a .zip file with the original recovery mode which you can flash as you do with a ROM.

1.) Put on SD Card.

2.) Go into clockworkmod (power and Vol down button)

3.) Choose Zip from SD Card

4.) Select stockrecovery.zip (or whatever it's called).

5.) Confirm

6.) Reboot

I've got a similar problem, and need to send mine back, my baseband is P729B01..does that mean I use the B10 ROM/TPT to go back to stock?

Are you Gen 1 or Gen 2?

Doesn't matter really, but just put it in the root of the SD.

Ok I have done that and followed your instructions to flash it.

I then removed the zip files from the SD card for Stock Recovery and the Orange Stock Rom. I also removed the clockwork mod directory.

When I boot the phone with power button and down vol button it now gives a ftm graphic and hangs the phone. Is this normal ?

I should add that if I just power on it boots normal.

Yeah, FTM is the default recovery which needs a battery pull to get out of it IIRC.

Are you Gen 1 or Gen 2?

Then you can just flash the stock 2.1 ROM I guess.
