Help Required with Unlock Pattern!

First post so apologies if in wrong section.

I purchased a OSF (ZTE Blade) online from Cash Generator and received the handset today. When switching on, it prompts me to enter an 'unlock pattern' - obviously set by previous owner and not wiped before selling to Cash Generator. I have no idea on what the pattern is and would have thought the retailer would have checked this before selling.

I contacted the store in question and they are more than happy for me to return the phone and get a full refund as they don't know how to resolve this problem - was hoping there was an easy fix solution that someone could suggest so I could just keep the phone without returning. I can guarantee I have not 'stolen' the phone and just looking for an easy way to make it operable (have confirmation email of the order I placed online which could be PM'd if someone can help but is wary in case they think the handset has been acquired by foul means.)

I would be most grateful for any advice.

Try turn it off and then boot up holding power and the Vol down button. If it then goes into something called Clockworkmod then you can wipe the entire ROM thus getting rid of the lockscreen.

Thanks for suggestion - tried this after doing Google search etc but comes up with the 'FTM' screen and not sure how to proceed from there - only way I can get rid of this is by taking battery out and then replacing.

Would assume it would only go into Clockworkmod if the previous owner had installed this - probably means they didn't do any customisation at all as still locked to Orange (didn't want to try and unlock it to ascertain if this got rid of the 'unlock pattern' as retailer said if I unlock the handset from Orange it will invalidate the warranty that came with it).

Not very technical but willing to try most things myself if I get an 'idiots' guide.

Appreciate the suggestion anyway.

Ahh okay, it was worth a go.

Yep that's correct.

I think you can use this method listed here with a good guide: http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...r-easy-install/

This will wipe the phone like the Clockworkmod can and flash CM7 on your phone along with Clockwork mod. Then you can change your ROM to whatever you like.

Do get a second opinion on this though since I didn't use it myself so I don't know much about it other than what I've read.

Once again, thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, when I connect handset via USB to computer, even though I have correct drivers installed, I cant access the files stored on the SD card (or anything else for that matter) as cant get into settings on phone to 'connect via usb', debug, etc etc as only allows you do an 'emergency' call and nothing else.

Tried various other things I found on XDA etc about doing hard reset using just handset or entering things via Command Prompts etc on laptop but to no avail. Looks like I will just need to return it .

Ahh, if you have an MicroSD Card reader you can take it out of the phone, place the TPT image on there then put it back in the phone.

+1 TPT should work

Thanks for input but unfortunately this is all a different language to me and probably best just returning. The phone didn't come with a Micro SD card so just used another and used a SD Adapter to put the " CM 7.0.3 TPT is here" file on the card and put back in phone and followed instructions but nothing happening - probably completely missed things out and no doubt more to it than this. Not sure if I should have used one of the others listed in the link provided.

Thanks for all the help anyway.

it must be in a folder on the root of the SD called "image".

then power on with menu and volume up and power held until some text appears.

Dont return it mate, remember that what your doing now has a learning curve. If you want a san fran its best to get used to the many different ways of flashing/modding, you never know when you or a friend will need those skills that your learning :)

Thanks. "image" does appear on the SD Card. Tried power on with menu and volume up and power held - Green Android Man appears for a few seconds and then goes to a white box with "FTM" written inside box but does nothing after this.

Thanks again - looks like I have sorted it. Stupidly, I didn't realise the "image" folder had to be on the root of the SD Card and not just a sub-folder. Seems to be up and running on 2.3.3 CyanogenMod-7.0.3-Blade - think I will just leave with this ROM on it rather than chancing my luck.

Thanks everyone for their help.
