Guest SeanJacko Posted June 30, 2011 Report Posted June 30, 2011 Hi all Many of you will have seen stories about the launch of the Libra in Asian markets. I went to ZTE for an update on the Libra. "The Libra is available from select Asian sources, but as we have not officially launched the device with any European carriers, we cannot offer any more information at this stage other than to say – it’s coming – and yes, it will be Gingerbread." I hope that helps a bit!
Guest hecatae Posted June 30, 2011 Report Posted June 30, 2011 Ok, Samsung offer all available sourcecode for any Samsung android device in the world from http://opensource.samsung.com Samsung will allow me to download and study source code for any android device they have produced, even if it is not available to European carriers. Will ZTE release the ZTE Libra Gingerbread kernel source, as Samsung do not restrict me by stating it is not available to any European carrier.
Guest Migun Posted June 30, 2011 Report Posted June 30, 2011 How can they say they don't have launched officially in Europe if the Libra is sold in Portugal since December ? http://a5.sapo.pt/
Guest Pelemane Posted June 30, 2011 Report Posted June 30, 2011 How can they say they don't have launched officially in Europe if the Libra is sold in Portugal since December ? http://a5.sapo.pt/ New Libra has 2.3.4 not 2.2. Libra has been sold in Germany for a while with 2.2.
Guest wbaw Posted June 30, 2011 Report Posted June 30, 2011 (edited) I'd like to remind you of this, http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-2.0.html It's the software license for the Kernel that ZTE borrowed to use on their devices. Edited June 30, 2011 by wbaw

It just wouldn't make any sense not to make the source available to everyone. There's no way I can think of how it could be kept for a restricted set of people only?! Edited June 30, 2011 by sm4tik
