Bought, paid for, just need to pick it up in the morning - a new Vega.

After months of humming and haaing decided on a Vega for my birthday - then they all get pulled. Finally I tracked one down and just need to pick it up in the morning.

I hope it was worth it - coz the price it right - the hardware is good, lets hope I can get a good ROM - any recommendations for a n00b?

P.S. I know I'm late to the game but lack of funds mean I'm limited to when I can buy things :)

Best recommendation is ...... to read & try the ones that you think will suit you. Sounds a bit of a cop out answer but when you have ClockworkMod installed, changing a ROM is a very straightforward process and you will be able to install / remove as you want. It will take a bit of playing / configuring whilst you decide what you need and which build can satisfy the need.

Personally, I like Corvus5 as it's fast, has all the components I need (CIFS, etc), well supported by developers & community and works well. TBH, I haven't tried any other ROM's (apart from Vegacomb) for quite a while as Corvus5 does everything I need it to.

Thanks MaxIP - the reason I bought the tab is because of all the tweaking you can do. Corvus 5 looks good until VC is a bit more ready - i.e. runs flash well for me

I can't wait to join the community of modders.

Don't forget to try CM7 (Android 2.3 - Gingerbread). I use it as my day-to-day ROM and flip between it and VegaComb.

Congrats. Why should you be "late to the game"? The Vega is a very good tablet for a good price, and now, after some time, there are very good ROMs available that fix the software problems such as the fact that is has no market out of the box. I just got it's twin brother (sister?) the Point of View Mobii Tegra2, because of the mix of price, specs, and mostly, the Corvus5 and R8 ROMs over here. (Tbh, without those ROMs, I might never have bought this tablet, because out of the box, it is just incomplete and limited.)

As Corvus5 seems to get killer reviews because of features and speed, I'm going to try it first. If I'm satisfied, I might even never switch; not even to Android 3.x.

Good luck.
