Guest sc52 Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 (edited) Hi, Whilst endevouring to swap to a new SD card I have managed to freeze my phone. I tried to do the following - clockwork backup copy the old SD card to PC use clockwork to partition and format the new card ext set at 512, swap at 0 (DIDN'T WORK) copy the SD card backup back to the new card do a complete restore from the clockwork backup The first problem I encountered was when I tried to partition the new card. I kept getting an error message but rather than investigating it there and the,n just carried on. When I did the restore using the new card the phone wouldn't boot - got as far as the green man and then stayed there. So assuming that the problem lay with the new card I put the old card back in and did a restore but got the same result. I now believe that the problem lies in the backup. I wondering whether there was enough room on the old card for the backup. The result is that I don't have a clean backup to retore from. The restore that I have done has left the phone inoperable. Is there any way of returning the phone to it's prior state or do I have to do a factory reset? If the latter - could somebody give me a step by step idiots guide to doing it - I've searched this forum but couldn't find out how to do it. Thanks EDIT Tried Advanced Restore and had no problems with - boot, system, data and cashe. However when trying sd-ext I get sd-ext.img not found. Edited July 1, 2011 by sc52
Guest hugobosslives Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 yer your backup was probably screwed up if you don't think you had any space. what you need to do is redownload your rom. so so go onto your computor and download it. then. transfer the zip onto your phones sdcard (the new one) you could do this either in clockwork in mounts and storage or using a card reader. then just boot into clockwork. wipe everything. and.install the new rom. done if this still fails. your clockwork must be corrupted. download a new one and flash via fastboot or your could apply a tpt with clcokwork and your new rom in it. questions? :)
Guest sc52 Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 questions? :) Hi HBL, Thanks for that. Sort of followed what you said but rather than loading onto new SD card I used my old one which had a zip of the ROM on it. Phone now working but missing all data since last google sync and the settings are back to default (I think). I had titanium backup (free) - but that seems to have gone walkabout, the folder is in the directory but is empty!? Also, lost a couple of other apps, one still folder with data in - just no app to access it...!? Also all my messages are gone - but I can live with that. I'll get the phone back to how it was and then go for the new SD card. My concern is that I can't seem to be able to set up the partition - any ideas - it's a Lexar 16GB "Mobile" micro sdhc. Thanks again.
