Replacement OSF arrived last night - OLED how come?

Orange replaced my TFT OSF last night with what appears to be an OLED one.

Having done the dial test it states it is a Samsung glass - so I am right in assuming its OLED ?

I was a bit gobsmacked as it is a b10 build and I read somewhere that OLED stopped with b05.

Is JJF9 still the best 2.2 rom for stability - I was getting poor wifi with it but that might have been the hardware.

I think it is an OLED one. You are very lucky.

I'm guessing they gave you a refurbished OLED one.

I'd say SS RLS5 is the best.

IMO, FLB Froyo G2 is the best 2.2 rom, however, it is not being developed anymore, so SS5 will be the better option. I am using Ginger Stir Fry and have to say that it is the most stable rom that I've tried.

It is a OLED - you got it as most replacements, I think, are refurbished stock, so it is an OLED.

My build numbers say that I have a TFT Screen, but comparing it against a TFT screen of the Pulse Mini, i am sure I have OLED. The viewing angles are OLED ones, I'm sure for me.

@chealsearock dial *983*24474636# on your phone. If it mentions SAMSUNG against the glass I think it confirms it as OLED - found on another forum - if somebody disagrees let me know.

thanks for the ROM votes will look at it.

That is correct, it's because Samsung makes the OLED panels. ZTE had to use TFT because there was a shortage as Samsung needed the OLED for their own phones e.g. Galaxy S, GS2 etc.

If you want a FLB based ROM I'd say go for the one by TheManicGibbon, the JGM one.

That said, Ginger Stir Fry is really very stable and has excellent battery life so it's worth giving that a go as well. There are a lot of themes for it too, look in the Goodies thread by Rockstarzzzz.

Or they used TFT to make more profit by cutting manufacturing costs :)

I've had my OSF replaced twice in the past month, both been OLED, maybe we are lucky or they have to give you an OLED if you had an OLED

You are just plain lucky, I don't see much of a reason why they'd give you an OLED one just cause you had an OLED one :)

If Orange had originally advertised it as having an OLED screen as a selling point then maybe it would be different.

They use refurbished phones as replacements, so it's just luck I suppose. They always flash them with the latest firmware.

I had a OLED One then in March the Screen Cracked under sunlight and they replaced it, it was a LEAD TFT one, then in April the Touchscreen stopped working on the LEAD one, then they gave me a replacement which was a TRULY one. I thought the LEAD Display was better the TRULY, the colours seemed better than on the LEAD

Ok - after one or two dramas have uploaded to SSr5.

I discounted GSF as it is GEN2.

The major plus for me of SSr5 over JJr9 is that the battery life is way better. It is not a level playing field comparison as my old phone used a TFT screen but it is the same old battery. I am struggling a little with the differences to the UI - which to me is a little uninspiring and seems uneccessarily awkward in places - like trying to delete threads is way more complicated but will persevere for a while - see how it goes. Shame I am still having wifi issues.

I big thanks for the advice from all on the forum who contributed.
