This is my second Dell Streak 5 with the same problem. The first unit lasted 3 months and this unit 2 weeks. It works perfectly at first and then my phone will not charge. Yesterday, it quit charging with the wall unit but charged through the USB port. Today, the USB port does not "see" the device. I have tried two different cables, two computers, taking the battery out and trying to power up through the USB port. I am a novice! Please help!

I was tempted to recommend to you an app that would recalibrate your battery statistics or recommend flashing StreakMod to your phone so you could wipe battery info through the recovery, BUT when you mentioned that your computer no longer detects the Streak when you connect it then I'm only left with the thought (IF it was detecting it before) that you have a hardware problem.

But I would still recommend flashing the custom recovery and wiping the stats. (If your computer doesn't recognize the Streak in fastboot (you said you were a novice, not a newb so I assume you know what I mean by fastboot) and you had the correct drivers installed, you may very well have a hardware issue)

You have already tried all the steps I would suggest.

If you are running a stock rom (and are a novice) then this is a warranty job, either through Dell or your carrier

If you do have a custom recovery and rom installed then it maybe worth doing as cdzo72 suggested before sending it back

Either way you'll probably end up having to send it back :)

Edit: Let the Streak run flat then try all your methods again. (Charging, powering on without the battery etc.)
