Guest chrismerriman63 Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 hi all, just wondering if you can tell me what are the major advantages of honeycomb over r8 rom. As i really only use the vega for tinternet access when out and about, and have got adw launcher and miren browser installed, do users like me really need honeycomb? are here any significant things it can do that r8 cant? :)

Guest winnipeg Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 It was a serious answer! Take a look in the Vegacomb thread. There are a couple of Honeycomb specific Apps News360 is one which is Fabulous. The Google plan is for Tabs Honeycomb - Now. Late 2001 / Early 2012 Icecream Sandwich. It depends on what you feel suits you after reading the info on the options you have. Hope this helps you some.
Guest jonstone Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 If you are not interested in the app side of things and only use it for browsing then you are probably fine sticking with r8 if you are happy with it. I haven't tried vegacomb yet, I will wait until flash is properly sorted before giving it a go. I would add though, that I swapped from r8 to corvus5 a month or so ago and I would recommend that change even if all you do is browsing as it is much smoother/faster on my vega at least

Guest winnipeg Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 Not at all. If you like to experiment, flashing roms is one way to learn a bit more, but, you may never have time to use your Vega in "user mode". Mine is usually in a constant unstable state trying different things. One day I may actually “use it” No one can really say what’s best; other than R8 is stable – does what it says on the tin. Other roms are in various stages of development and which one you may like to use is dependent on you. As no one has been able to “Brick” a Vega so far – other than dropping it!!! You are free to experiment if you want and have time. The Advent stock rom and this thread are your friends. http://android.modaco.com/content/advent-v...guides-how-tos/ Good luck – you may need extra Beer………. :)
Guest Adam:) Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 they are kind of hard roms to compare :L as they both are different it wuld be better if it is was corvus5 v r8, cos they both run 2.2 and are similar. But for me, its vegacomb :)
Guest swarrans Posted July 3, 2011 Report Posted July 3, 2011 Like the OP, I'm with R8 at the moment and just use Miren to surf and watch iPlayer etc. However this combination doesn't really handle flash very well imho - I still get bad lip sync issues - 10.1 works OK at first then goes horribly out of sync after 20 mins or so, whereas 10.3 from the market is not sync'ed from the get-go. Others seem to think Flash is fine now - am I just over-sensitive or are they using combos that work better? - I'd be prepared to try Corvus or VC but I do want to actually use my tablet and not be in constant experimentation mode!

Corvus ROM, ADW launcher, honeycomb theme, smart keyboard pro with the pop up lettrlers turned of (the ones that pop up whenever you press a letter). Fast, stable and perfectly functional in every way.

Just probing because I've seen others post that R8 and Mirren work fine, but they don't for me.. Simon

The only way you will ever really know is to try them yourself, one thing that has been fairly constant in all the threads on this forum since it started is that one Vega running one setup can and does behave differently to another vega with exactly the same set up. You don't need to be in constant experimentation mode as there aren't that many Roms and as flash is so important to you. I would leave vegacomb for a start. I have used them all but for the last two or more weeks I have been running with no fc cm7 which is tablet tweaked and for me very stable
