Guest Mrhex_swe Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 Alright, i accidentally did 2 misstakes. I was under the impression my zte blade was gen2. So i started by flashing clockwork mod (gen2). It went on without a hinch. The problem comes now, after going into recovery mode, i flashed with cyanogenmod (gen2). After which the phone tried to boot but the boot screen, (rotating arrow) stuck then it appeared again and again.. I then realised the phone is gen1. So i figured i would try to flash Swedish Spring R5 (froyo 2.2) instead which is compatible with gen1. I did, same thing. I then realised, after reading on a bit i have to flash gen1 recovery aswell, i run gen2 recovery now. After totally missunderstanding a guide (tired as hell and drunk on red whine(excuses..excuses...)), i flashed in a gen1 update of clockwork recovery. After this i cannot get into recovery mode. It does try to boot Swedish Spring R5 if i dont touch volume key, if i press volume key down it dont go into recovery. If i press volume up it stops at android screen, and usb is enabled. I havent found the usb drivers, i figured i would try adb/fastboot to get in recovery gen1. The link on the wiki to zte homepage dont work. Anyone have any ideas of how i should move forward with this? Any suggestions is welcome.
Guest Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 (edited) If you are sure you are gen1,then put gen1 TPT on sd card.Power on with volume held up. That should sort the problem out. The bonus of this is you get gen2,custom partitions and,cm7. But if you want to stay on gen1,there are gen1 TPT too. Edited July 2, 2011 by Guest
Guest k0zmic Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 You can flash a Gen 1 Compatible recovery via Fastboot: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Fastboot
Guest unrandomsam Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 It depends (some later gen1's have fastboot disabled) sensible thing would be to just do the gen2 TPT method. (fastboot and suitable recovery and gen2 in one step).
Guest hugobosslives Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 wait a minute..... if you originally flashed a clockwork image and it worked your phone is the same gen as the clockwork version. I.e if you flashed 3.2.0.7 this is only gen2 and would only boot onto a gen2 phone. what clockwork version did you flash?

But he also say sweedish spring not work, which would work on either gen ? But the problem is that if he believed he was gen1 and flashed gen1 rom,but was in fact gen2, well that could be real problems there, propa brickage :)

Guest Mrhex_swe Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 (edited) 1. I started off flashing in "recovery-RA-blade-gen2-v2.3-CM.img ", no problems flashing it in. 2. i went into recovery mode and flashed cyanogem mod "cm_blade_full-118.zip" 3. rebooted from recoverymode, first green android, then cyanogenmod logo. it went a few rotations, a silver arrow rotating. then froze up. then the logo restarted. kept doing that 10mins. At this point i was starting to hmmmm so i continued. 4. Flashed in Swedish Spring R5, the one i flashed into my GF´s zte blade a few weeks ago. 5. Rebooted phone, same here. silver android logo of swedish spring locks up after a while and reapears etc. Now comes the BIG misstake, i should have stopped at 4 and continued today. But time was 0400 AM and i was tired in many ways. I was thinking hey, maybe i cant run gen2 recovery and install the mod. I do believe my GF´s phone was Gen1. 6. So i without thinking, flashed from recovery mode, "recovery-RA-blade-gen1-v2.3-CM-update_signed.zip". i realised the moment i rebooted the darn thing what i did, i patched the gen2 with gen1 update..... So from that moment, the following happens. I turn it on, it will go past green android and try to boot swedish spring. or I turn it on while i hold volume down, it dont go into recovery it goes to booting swedish spring , same as above. or i turn it on holding volume up, it will halt at android screen. i am guessing usb debug mode. What do you think beyond saving or any hope? if i connect it to the computer with USB, when holding volume up during boot. the computer recognise a usb device. But it wont recognise what it is. Wonder if i have the correct drivers. Also Can i confirm it is Gen2 in any way. Or can i assume it was gen2 all along as some1 above mentioned as i got clockwok gen2 working? Guest k0zmic Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 Oh okay. In Windows go into device manager with your device plugged in and get rid of the currently installed drivers, it'll be ZTE USB device or something, at the top of device manager IIRC if you're using Windows 7. Reboot. Then plug it back in, hopefully Windows Update will automatically find the correct drivers. Then you should be able to flash a Gen 2 recovery back with fastboot, I think?
Guest hedgepigdaniel Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 Your phone was Gen2 to begin with. If it was sold with android 2.1 (you upgraded it to Gen2) then the fastboot option should work. If it was originally Gen2, then fastboot will be disabled. In that case, I suggest you do the following: Download the Stock Gen2 firmware package from my guide hereConvert the files in the files directory of the zip file into an image.bin file with this tool by foniz232Put this image.bin in the root of your SD Card and power your phone on with menu and volume up heldFollow steps 8-10 in my guide. That is important. That is essentially the Gen2 equivalent of a TPT.

If not i do appreciate all the answers. I suck in my tummy, raise my chin. And dont cry until i go around the corner.
Guest Mrhex_swe Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 Not looking promising i am afraid. Did as mentioned, the i made a image.bin out of the files directory. Opened it with extractor to see that it looks ok, which it does. Put the image.bin in the root folder. Inserted the sdcard, and put in battery and booted while holding volume + and menu key. Android screen starts, it takes a while maybe 1min then it starts trying to load Swedish Spring. No text come up or anything. I tried connecting it to the PC after having installed the proper drivers. It just says unknown device. So i have a feeling i have bricked it. Going to try on a 2nd PC to see if it is unknown device there also.

All I ever do is name the TPT files as a folder called image, placed on the root of SD

Guest Mrhex_swe Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 See post #10 i followed his guide. I will try the folder way aswell. Tried the folder aswell have this in sd card nw. \ [LOST.DIR] [.android_secure] [DCIM] [Android] su-2.3.1-bin-signed.zip [tmp] z4root.1.3.0.apk RecoveryManager_v0.36b.apk [.footprints] recovery-clockwork-4.0.0.5-blade-gen2-update_signed.zip image.bin [image] It goes green android, then SS android silver text. if i: 1. Power on + VOL(+) + MENU 2. Power on + VOL(+) 3. Power on + VOL(+) + HOME It dont flash image folder or a image.bin that is placed in root. It hangs at green android if i: 1. Power on + VOL(+) + BACK 2. Power on + VOL(-) + MENU 3. Power on + VOL(-) at this time if i connect usb to PC, it is recognised as a device but, windows says unknown device. Still havent tried another PC. But to me, it is starting to look grim. Wonder why Swedish Spring wont boot up to begin with. :/ if only i could get that to boot. Could it be the wipe that is suggested in swedish spring installation notes. that makes SS not boot? just grasping for straws here.
Guest Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 I would have thought that by having two image folders on sd card would stop a TPT. Just try this: Delete folder image.bin, Download your chosen TPT, Extract the image file from the TPT, Place it on root of SD and try it again, If that dont work,I am sorry but I have no idea what to do.
Guest hedgepigdaniel Posted July 5, 2011 Report Posted July 5, 2011 let me briefly explain this issue of the image folder (TPT) vs image.bin. Phones sold with Gen1 can upgrade firmware from TPT files in an image folder. Phones sold as Gen2 cannot. Phones sold with Gen2 can however upgrade firmware from an image.bin file which contains the same thing. So unfortunately this Gen2 phone won't do anything with an image folder I don't know why its not working with the image.bin, but common troubleshooting tips for TPT include reformating the SD card, and trying a different SD card. Are you sure that you downloaded the stock Gen2 package from my guide, and not any of the other ones? assuming TPT and fastboot are not working, you can fix it up here. boot into DFU mode and flash the stock Gen2 files, and make sure flash cefs.mbn is unticked. check that your IMEI is correct afterwards. instructions are in the thread. The wipe that is mentioned in the install notes is the same as the format /data option in clockworkmod.
