Guest Sanddancer75 Posted July 3, 2011 Report Posted July 3, 2011 I've just installed Vegacomb (great work by the way lads) & have got to say that I don't see what the big fuss over Honeycomb is. Maybe I'm just not used to it yet, some of it has nice touches, but Froyo (such as Corvus5 that I was happy with) running a nice launcher can give it a run for its money in my opinion. I'm struggling to find any decent optimised apps for it too. Am I just getting old & am afraid of change? What do others think of it?

I love the look and feel of the ui, but thats just preference. The task bar with its open apps and home buttons makes multi tasking very easy and creates more of a desktop experience. The clock etc going into the most used settings is also nice. The keyboard is really nice. The activity inside and activity (not sure if this is the technical name) such as the new widgets are great, but are not being used to there fullest. I think its in 3.1 where you can rezise these which will make them better. Also as new ones get created such as music players etc they will really start to come into there own. I think its all preety much there but developers need to start showing it of.

This is the thing about honeycomb is that its only a gap for android to make ice cream, so i think developers dont see the point in making apps because in a couple months ice cream will be out and they will have to make apps for that aswell.

I think that honeycomb has been a big step forward for android, i think its great. and to bare in mind that vegacomb is just a beta, and when its finished, or when theres a actual HC update (fingers crossed;) ) i think that then we will really see how good HC actually is :) Also, soon more developers will make apps for HC aswell, which will solve the problem of few optimised apps.

Where are the Honeycomb apps? Don't hold your breath! http://tabletroms.com/index.php/2011/07/02...honeycomb-apps/
Guest Sanddancer75 Posted July 3, 2011 Report Posted July 3, 2011 They've done a great job with Vegacomb, but I've held off flashing it until now & was just expecting more from Honeycomb. I'm still playing around with it & won't reflash it with anything unless it starts really annoying me. Maybe it'll grow on me?

I wasn't thrilled either when I first booted honeycomb, but even though honeycomb looks and works differently from what we're used to, the changes really do increase efficiency on a tablet. Today I flashed cyanogenmod on my POV, and even though I've used cyanogenmod for ages on my SGS and Liquic before that I found it awkward to use when compared to Vegacomb.
Guest warriorscot Posted July 3, 2011 Report Posted July 3, 2011 Honeycomb is good and vegacomb is a great piece of work but it is still very beta and I am very happy with the Cyanogen 7 tablet mods Release Candidate it has some of the improvements of honeycomb but still feels like 2.2 I am used to just optimised for a tablet. And as far as i have seen its the first really bug free release so I will be using it till the next vegacomb release at least depending on how much of an improvement we get over 1.6(flash support would be the decider).
