Battery charging problem

Howdy Folks, I've got a battery charging problem with my OSF. Wherever I try to charge the I find battery will stop changing after a few percent.

Example.. it'll charge to say 47% & then stay stuck on 47%, the only way I can get the percentage to go up is to reboot the phone, then let it charge till the percentage stops again, then keep rebooting & charging until it says the battery is 100%.

Has anyone had the same problem & got a solution to fix it??

Thanx

Andy

Your battery stats sound messed.

Charge your phone fully

Keep it on the charger

Go into ES File Explorer (in root mode) or Root explorer.

Then enter /system/bin

Find batterystats.bin and delete

Reboot

Take it off the charger

Let it drain till 10% before you recharge

For the next three or so charges let it drain to 10%

Cheers for that, I'll give it a try :). I'll see if I can download ES File Explorer from market!!

Just download ES Explorer found /system/bin & can't find batterystats.bin but I found a file called battery_charging.bin, is it the same thing??

I don't think so, I just remembered that Stir Fry doesn't have the file. CM7, SS etc. do.

Shame that GSF is best ROM I tried so far & I've been thinking of sticking with this it. I'll try installing a different ROM to see if I have the same problem!!

Can't you erase battery stats in Clockwork? I'm having this kind of problem too, but I'm on SS RLS5, where I have to charge it by USB, then it stops, then charge by plug, then stops, then reboot, then hope I get lucky :/

Yeah I've tried that but I'm still having the same problem. Last night I decide to a full wipe & start all over again to see if it that helps. I'm gonna let the battery drop to about below 10% & then do a full charge, I'll let you know how things get on!!

I think I'm seeing the same problem. I'm on SS5. I just deleted battery stats using clockwork mod and now charging via AC on the powered down phone. We'll see how that goes.

Wondering if there's anything related in our issues or if its just a coincidence. How long have you guys had this issue? Have you installed any battery saving apps recently (i tried powermax, but it didnt do anything that I didn't already do manually i.e. switching off wifi/data/gps etc). Have you recently flashed a new rom, or wiped dalvik cache (I wiped dalvik cache to try to recover a little internal memory in data partition, seems this battery problem started not long after).

Before I switched to GSF (my current ROM) I using CM7 Green V5 (had the same problem with that too) & I always wipe dalvik cache whenever changed ROM's. I haven't tried battery saving apps.

Now it doesnt seem to be charging from usb either, so no charging from AC or usb. However, using my sister's AC cable for samsung galaxy apollo works fine. So possibly a problem with USB cable.

Incidentally, seems another person has similar charging issues

I noticed that thread I even posted on there. I haven't got a spare AC cable at home but I'll see if I can lend one off someone!!

1.Connect the phone to the charger with the phone powered on, and allow the phone to charge until the notification LED is green, indicating the device is fully charged.

2.Disconnect the phone from the charger, and power it off.

3.Reconnect the phone to the charger with the phone powered off, and allow the phone to charge until the notification LED is green.

4.Disconnect the phone from the charger and power it on.

5.Once the phone is powered completely on, power it off again and reconnect it to the charger until the notification LED is green.

6.Disconnect the phone, power it on in clockwork recovery, and wipe batt stats. You need to use this sequence only once.

Because we are using the Blade ignore the "green LED" because Blade goes green at 90%. Just charge it for a while, max it out each time.

Try that:)

I may consider it but judging by what I read in this thread & another thread on this forum it seems people are having problems using the USB cable. I tried charging with USB conected to PC & connected to A/C.

hmm sadly this does seem to be a reccuring problem, initially i wondered if it was lieing, and said 97% but was actually 100% hoping that it would hang on 97% for some time but no.

have you tried using a different usb cable?

i have a micro usb cable for my external hdd that has the same port for the blade possibly try and find one and give that a go if you haven't already.

Regards

Bradley

We are 4 friends having bought 4 ZTE Blade San Francisco at the same time. All are fine except mine that has charging troubles.

- (PC) USB charge works fine;

- charge through USB car adapter works poorly on my own ZTE(V 2.3.4) but works fine with my friends' ones;

- charge through the mains adapter does not work on my own ZTE although my adapter works with my friends' ones;

- other ZTE mains adapters do not work either on my ZTE;

- a Samsung mains adapter (for Galaxy) works perfectly on my ZTE

I hope it may ring a bell and help those who face such strange charging problems :blink:

Having the same issue here. Was on CM7 7.0.1 stable (TPT from gen 1 to gen 2) - keeps stalling at odd amounts, eg 21, 47, 51, 67, 92

Hoped upgrading it to CM& 7.1 RC1 would solve it - no dice : still the same problem. This is via both USB and AC adaptor.

I wonder - how many here have used TPT to upgrade their Gen1 phones to Gen2 - could it be related to that I wonder ? I had no problem before I did that.

How odd was that - power was at 51, charging via USB. Rebooted the phone, it instantly dropped to 41. Plugged in the USB lead. Dropped again to 32, then again to 31.

I wonder whether these battery stats should be taken with a pinch of salt ?
