Guest MikeMurder Posted July 3, 2011 Report Posted July 3, 2011 ok so i have had this Vega a lil while now and i am at my wits end trying to gain access to the android market (where all the good stuff seems to be). There has to be a workaround or solution to this, i am currently using my googlemail account to send and recieve emails (i just recieved two while typing this) and also i logged into the youtube app thing on the bottom of the screen using my googlemail account. thats all good! BUT! when i try and get anything from the market place it says "There are no Android phones associated with this account. Please sign in with a different account." So i try the sync account thing on the Vega, input my email address and password, it then shows a screen saying that the "domain/username" is the first part of my email addy (before the @) with a / in front of it and that the server is "googlemail.com" (is this correct, i don't know about this technical stuff?) When i click next it says "SETUP COULD NOT FINISH, Unable to open connection to server"??? The wireless connection is good and full signal, everything else works perfectly except this, my email account is running perfectly on my Vega but no matter how much i read i don't feel any closer to a solution. The majority of similar problems i have read on the net seem to be with smart phones using android. i have updated the Vega to the V1.10 Final update via my PC and i haven't instaled anything other than a few games and apps, really hope someone can help as i am starting to regret not plumping for the iPad like the wife did. Thanks.
Guest MikeMurder Posted July 3, 2011 Report Posted July 3, 2011 Oh... i forgot to add, i did a reset on it but that didn't help and i tried to download "Fake my location" but i only seem to be able to find it on the market and well that leads me neatly back to my original problem :)

No it doesn't. Do you have another email address apart from gmail if so use that one instead to send it to then copy the link they send back into Vega browser window and follow it then download.

You need to install Android Market and there are two ways either by installing a Modaco ROM or by following the posts in this forum which mention how to do it the other way. If you use the search facility with 'Android market' string I'm sure you'll find how to do it but for me it is rather late and I'm off to bed. If you still get nowhere come back tomorrow and we'll try and help some more. Cheers :)

Guest Unipete Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 Thanks for the help Trevor, went to bed utterly dejected last night after my last post, i have a busy days jobbing ahead of me today but i will have another crack at it later this afternoon, hopefully with better luck lol If you don't want to flash a custom ROM at the moment, (although it would be the best thing to do as it gives you so much more than just the market), you could just put market on from this thread: http://android.modaco.com/content/advent-v...guides-how-tos/ Just scroll down to number 8 of the software updates in the first post and download the apk to your PC. Then either copy it across to the vega or put it on your micro sd card and then mount that in your vega. Then navigate to where you have put it in your vega and install it. you should then be able to sync your gmail to it. Let us know how you get on.
Guest scarrie Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 "googlemail.com" My experience is that Google is slowly dropping support for the old googlemail.com domain. It may be worth converting to gmail.com, you can do that somewhere in your google email account settings and can still receive emails from the old googlemail.com address. However, it does mean you have to reset any Android phones or tablets using the old account inorder to set them up with the new name. Steven
