Guest tiita Posted November 29, 2002 Report Posted November 29, 2002 Microsoft and amiga are working together to create games for the spv  more details at www.amiga-anywhere.com
Guest DubWhiZZ Posted November 29, 2002 Report Posted November 29, 2002 Now thats what I'm talking about and my SPV hasn't even arrived yet. Sensible Soccer anyone? Guess this is about to turn into a "Whats your favourite Amiga Game?" thread. Can anyone remind me of the name of that helicopter game where you used the mouse?
Guest Gaf Posted November 29, 2002 Report Posted November 29, 2002 rather have access to all the free homebrew stuff myself :D
Guest Shuflie Posted November 30, 2002 Report Posted November 30, 2002 I'd most look forward to a smartphone implementation of M.A.M.E. You could get lots of games out on the smartphone with only one certification.
Guest pmckean Posted November 30, 2002 Report Posted November 30, 2002 Mame is an excellent idea. Much better than porting the AmigaDE engine. Don't think that the Amiga announcement means access to that rich back-catalgoue of classic titles. It means a few simple puzzle games and the odd scrolling shoot-em-up. Amiga is a different beast, these days.
Guest elementalist Posted December 1, 2002 Report Posted December 1, 2002 Mame would be ideal. Hope someone who knows those guys reads this. MAME US UP! :)
Guest robotron Posted December 1, 2002 Report Posted December 1, 2002 I'd most look forward to a smartphone implementation of M.A.M.E. You could get lots of games out on the smartphone with only one certification. Well there are already two ports of M.A.M.E to the windows CE/ Pocket PC platform and run ok on the IPAQ. I tried to install it on the SPV but failed at the usual "Unsigned Cab" problem....... Dont expect anything other than early 8 bit games to be playable though Lee
Guest pmckean Posted December 1, 2002 Report Posted December 1, 2002 Well, even if you got past the signing issues, Pocket PC/CE software doesn't work on SmartPhone at all, so existing ports of MAME etc would never function! Pocket PC software needs to be recompiled to take into account the new CPU. API difference mean that some recoding is required to, as well as rewriting your user interface for keyboard rather than stylus operation.
Guest JezHarris Posted June 30, 2006 Report Posted June 30, 2006 Whaooo, brakes on a minute. Do what with a which :) ? Errrm, just when this old brain thought it knew what was what, you throw something like that into the mix! I think I'll go start a topic about mp4's encased inside avi's..... :P /*stops hijacking thread* Well basically he's saying that you can encode a MP4 film, with mp3 audio, and then change the .mp4 extension to avi, and thats the "container" bit.. Its mainly because Mp4 stands for Mpeg 4 :D which is basically what DivX and Xvid are. DivX are types of mpeg 4 compression, so most media players think there the same thing, its just the type of compression codec they use, whether H264, DivX, or Xvid. MiG
Guest JezHarris Posted July 1, 2006 Report Posted July 1, 2006 Ooooh, I see. Very handy :D But back to... So what do I use to encode to mp4 before changing the file type extension? There are numerous ways really, i use a program called mpegable x4 live, which is now discontinued :) but you can use Quicktime Pro, or.. Download this codec: H264 Codec Then you can open up virtual dub, and select that codec as the video compression, then select Mp3 for the audio or whatever audio codec you want.. Encode your film, walah.
