Hm... where did it come from?

Of course Orange can block any phone that has been stolen.

I brought it off friend I knew who is at uni at the other end on the contry, went to see him and said he was selling his phone, so of cause everyone knows the beuaty of these phones so I jumped to the chance, I doubt he would pinch a phone but then again if it is giving off the signs off that then Im wrong  :)

Do you think its completely blocked??

and I take it there is no way round it??

Typical if it is, I ve been stuck with the Nokia 3210 BRICK for years and I finally get a nice phone and I cant use it ;)

Ive only tried it with two pay-as-you go orenge sims, and it just comes up Network denied, seraching... or no network

You do realise that these SPV's from the uk only work with orange sims

to get them to work with other networks ie, voda, o2 etc u need to:

1. put the phone on its charger

2. take the batteryout whilst on charge

3. swap orange sim to desired sim

4. fit battery back

and hey presto....note that ive only tested this with an orange sim in the first place.

on the other hand the phone could actually be block in which case u'd need to take it to someone to unblock the phone.

I am in the uk, as I said I tried an orange sim and it turned on, went on to the main screen and in the network part it just said 'Network Denied, Searching...'

Its starting to like like its completely bocked dont it :) I hope its not, its a brill phine and I could really do with the programs it has.

Typical, I dont want to be stuck with the 3210  is there anyway of sorting it

I dont know anyone who can unblock them

I would imagine that as you have an orange sim card, you can ring OCS and ask them to help. (If I remember correctly you need to register the handset with them..) I'm sure they will politely tell you if the handset has been reported stolen.

I wont get done though will I, cause Ive done nothing wrong

It cant be pinched cause its with the charger and not many people carry around their charger!!!!

Can't be sure they won't 'do' you for it. (maybe you are handling stolen goods??). but as you bought it in good faith... ask a legal expert or your friend.. (how about asking where he bought it?).

the batch stolen at heathrow were complete boxed units.

I asked him, he said he got it last year (which i know cause he told me he had brought it back then) and he brought a new one last week, XDA cause it was a better call time and text time offer on O2

so it seems sound enough, do you definatly think its blocked or dont some orange sims work on them, cause the orange sim i tried is at least a year old

actually orange are supplying different design sims with new spv's with different contact shapes.. I don't know if this is just the new style orange are using or a special 'spv' compatible sim.

maybe try taking it to an orange shop, and seeing if one of the staff can swap sims with you.. (they should have a working spv in the shop).

If the phone was of the stolen Heathrow (not Gatwick :) ) stock,

all that would happen is if you received the phone in good faith

you would have to hand it over to Orange and lose what ever you

paid for it.

Unless you want to stitch up your friend and maybe get a reward??

Nah, I wouldnt do that, plus Ive just thought, it cant be stolen from hethrow cause if it was I would presume that they would of been block asa soon as possible (if they have that kind of common sense!!!) and this one has numbers and messages that have been stored on the phone so it must of been used.

Try this..

Go to Settings >Telephony > Networks

Network selection > Manual

Menu > Find a new Network

It should find and list all the Networks, as long as you are in a coverage area of course.

If it finds Orange, then select it and Done.

If it now says Barred from network or you still can't make calls, then the phone is definitely barred, and you won't be able to use it without contacting Orange.

If the phone has a debt still remaining, then Orange will not de-barr the phone until the debt is paid.

It could be that the remains of the original contract has to be paid off first, and this is why Orange have blacklisted the phone.

Tried that, it didnt do any of them, just said that it was unable to get settings when i put it in manual mode???

whats that mean

You either have a faulty SIM, or the SPV is faulty.

Can you try the phone with a known working Orange Sim card, or try your SIM card in another phone.

Posted

Ok just tried my orange sim in my delightful 3210 and it worked ok. Does that mean the phone is no good or because the sim is not compatable.

If the phone is faulty are there any of you out there that might be able to fix it

Posted

do you think its faulty then guys or could it be that orange have blocked the whole phone.

If they have, I was thinkinking, could they only block the code of the phone from theor system so it could not be used on orange or do they actually block the phone its self. Cause I want to use it on O2 so O2 would not have it blocked on their system.....or is that completely wrong

I think your best option is to talk to Orange as you have a sim card

of theirs. that way you would know one way or the other if the phone was faulty.

Otherwise just give it to your mate and get your money back.

I think we may be overlooking the obvious and searching for a techie solution because we're GOOD at techie solutions. What do we KNOW? The vendor is a student who needs to raise money by selling his phone. The phone won't work and gives an unspecified error message. "Something denied". Could be it's "access denied." Which is EXACTLY what you'd get if you didn't pay the bill for over a month and got cut off as a result. I'd be looking at how much is owed by the vendor... because that could be how much you're going to have to pay to get it working again. As far as ORANGE is concerned, the phone is still in the name of the broke student, no? Until he pays up, the phone that they regard as HIS will be barred. Maybe you could ask for a refund of the overdue amount. If he keeps on just not paying, (if that's what's happened) then billing would hand over the a/c to a debt recovery service. He'd wind up in court, and owing costs as WELL as the overdue sum.

Woof.

I upgraded from a Nokia 8210 and was sent a new SIM as, to quote Orange, the 'Old SIM will not work in the SPV, they use a different/upgraded SIM.

I hope that is your problem.

If the Phone is stolen they will block it vie it's IMEI, if the bill hasn't been paid I would imagine they would block the SIM and may also block the 'phone (It does still technically belong to Orange until the contract has expired).

Slightly less than 2 cents worth, but still readable! :)

Just read Big Ron's post - oh well!

Why not try a hard reset? If the settings have somehow been buggered, they would be reset.

If it doesn't work after that then surely it's a dodgy phone?

Just tried it, nope, no use with the orange sim, I dont know weather to wait till I get my O2 sim to try or to throw it.

I really liked it aswel, It was just what I need for uni with the diary and programs. Typical. Can anyone help.....plz

If not I might just have to buy one, but Im skint, what other phones are run buy windows???

How come the SPV is so technologically advanced unlike many other phone.

I wish mine would work
