Guest ShahinTehShiz Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 Hi guys, I'm on SS RLS5 (GEN1), and after hearing everyones take on Gingerbread Stir Fry, I was thinking whether I should make the move or not? Is GingerStir fry stable? and Does all the GPS, 3G data etc work? And is the battery life good? (Better than FLB? Which I hear is the best in terms of usability) Thanks!
Guest k0zmic Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 (edited) Do it. Yes, yes and battery life is great for me. I haven't tried FLB so I don't know, but it seems as good if not better than SS. Edited July 4, 2011 by k0zmic
Guest DWaldie Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 I've upgraded to CM7 and it's like a new phone. As long as you don't run Wi-Fi constantly the battery is better than before. GPS crashes the first time you use it then it is fine, and everything else works as before, if not better.
Guest Titas Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 I moved from Portuguese Spring & am v.happy with GSFb9. Smooth, fast & good battery. The TPT version will do the upgrade to Gen2 for you as well in one simple step. It's a no brainer - go for it - you wont regret it!
Guest ShahinTehShiz Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 What if I don't like it? Can anyone link me to a Gen1 TPT that will let me go back, and please write the steps reuired? Thank you! Original info : Orange San Francisco, TFT B01 Gen1 (I THINK that means I'm B10 right?)

Original info : Orange San Francisco, TFT B01 Gen1 (I THINK that means I'm B10 right?) Go and look here for the Gen 1 to Gen 2 and Gen 2 to Gen 1 TPT files - includes full instructions as to what to to as well.... http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...n2-tpt-upgrade/
Guest kd80 Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 (edited) Asked a very similar question not too long ago :) couldn't recommend it more. Fantastic ROM! Like the 2.3 of SS RLS5. Edit: Removed unrequired quote. Edited July 4, 2011 by kd80
Guest ShahinTehShiz Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 I've heard that when you go Gen1 to Gen2 or Gen2 to Gen1, you lose your IMEI number?
Guest k0zmic Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 (edited) I've heard that when you go Gen1 to Gen2 or Gen2 to Gen1, you lose your IMEI number? That happens rarely when something goes wrong, usually when people make a mistake of their own fault. I think it happened more with the Windows flasher. Edited July 4, 2011 by k0zmic
Guest slitz Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 I've heard that when you go Gen1 to Gen2 or Gen2 to Gen1, you lose your IMEI number? Only if you use the Windows method to upgrade to Gen2, it won't happen with the TPT method.
Guest ShahinTehShiz Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 Okay, thanks alot! I'm flashing the Gingerbread Stir Fry now :) One question though, If I flash the GSF TPT now, and I want to change Gen2 ROMs, say to CM7, how would I do this? Thanks!
Guest k0zmic Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 Via recovery - full wipe and flash, just as you would with any Gen 1 ROM.
Guest slitz Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 If you TPT to Gen2, you're on Gen2 from then onwards unless you TPT back to Gen1.
Guest swisstourist Posted July 5, 2011 Report Posted July 5, 2011 (edited) If you TPT to Gen2, you're on Gen2 from then onwards unless you TPT back to Gen1. does adhoc work??? , can you connect to your computer if your computer is not a station but adhoc because on the SS it say "adhoc not supported" I undertand (I have SS, mod1) i have to download the zip file, put the zip file in a folder on my card, then press power and volume +. the my phone will be Mod2 with vanlilla gingerbread, and what about the other files on my SD card, which one to erase? thank you if u can answer. Guest k0zmic Posted July 5, 2011 Report Posted July 5, 2011 How does the CyanogenMod 7 RC1 Stable release fair up to GSF? Have a look in the GSF thread in the last two pages, : http://android.modaco.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=1751704

I liked my theme in blue, but if there isn't any then its fine  you lucky. did it, not working on mine. it does nothing aftren pressing power volume +, it just start with my usual SS??? something wrong? ah ok, menu+power+ volume +...got it. cool!!! To install: Unzip the file to the root of your sdcard, it will create an 'image' folder. Check the integrity of the files using AFV (available from android market) to find the nandroid.md5 file in the image directory, then long press on it & verify nandroid backup. Turn off your phone, leave it for at least 30 seconds, then hold menu & volume + when you power it on. You should see some green text (may be just a blank screen) then it should reboot & you should see a big android while it is performing it's first boot (this will take a while). Once it has successfully started up don't forget to delete the image folder on your sd card, to prevent any accidents. Edited July 5, 2011 by swisstourist
