Guest REDARROW Posted July 6, 2011 Report Posted July 6, 2011 Hi all, From the very beginning I would ask you to bear with me. I am not new to android as I have a SE Xperia X10 but new as regarding my other android phone which is a Acer Liquid E. So I just got this phone couple of day ago (traded in a HTC Hero for it) and I am trying to root the phone so then I will be able to install custom rom's and all the stuff. First of all here you have all the details about the phone: Acer APN version: 1.109-1 Product SKU: PA_ROG Device info version: 2.1 Manufacturer: Acer Model ID: LiquidE Android version: 2.2 Baseband version: A1-05.01.05 Kernel version: 2.6.29 Build number: Acerl_Liquid_4.001.08_PA_ROG Ok. Then I followed a tutorial about installing Malez Recovery everything working flawlessly (apparently) 'till I've reached the step where I am suppose to boot into the recovery. I am using the key combination (vol down+camera+power) and the next screen is black then if I touch the home button the screen displays kind of a recovery menu (I guess E3) which I am sure is not the one I am looking for. on the bottom of the screen the bellow message appears. /dev/block/mmcblk0 does exist Finding update package... Verifying update package... E: failed to open /sdcard/update zip (no such file or directory) E: signature verification failed Installation aborted Is there anything I do wrong? Could you please give me a hand with finalizing this process and get my ACER rooted? Thanks in advance and for such a great android community Yours, DEC
Guest DasTisu Posted July 6, 2011 Report Posted July 6, 2011 Have you tried the easy installer provided by Malez?
Guest Ma7moud Posted July 6, 2011 Report Posted July 6, 2011 from the build number i guess you have a Rogers Liquid E ? if yes then you need the update.zip file from here Malez Recovery but the file is removed from megaupload so if someone has it please upload it again what Malez said : "official Roger 2.2 update automatically reflash its own "original" recovery on each system boot. So you have to boot in recovery mode using combo keys, just after flashing malez recovery, then delete automatic procedure. I will provide you an update.zip to do the job"
Guest REDARROW Posted July 6, 2011 Report Posted July 6, 2011 Yes. It's a Rogers phone. Can you PM me the update zip? Thanks
Guest Ma7moud Posted July 6, 2011 Report Posted July 6, 2011 sorry but i don't have it, i tried looking for it in the forums here but no luck
Guest ravendagrey Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 sorry but i don't have it, i tried looking for it in the forums here but no luck You dont need it and it just makes matters worse when you use it. use the malez easy installer then boot into recovery you should see a blue screen with a liquid on it saying malez save a naindroid, (you'll need it to restore your phone for warranty) and flash liquid next 1.5 full then your good to go and without that update.zip patch you can always restore the phone to stock (with it malez will stick and your warranty will be void!)
Guest REDARROW Posted July 16, 2011 Report Posted July 16, 2011 thanks a lot for your replies guys. what I did was to flash a generic firmware and then malez installed flawlessly.
