Help! Android market crashes!

Hi, I've got the V8 rom, and everything was running sweetly...

But recently my Market app has stopped working. It appears to shut down as soon as I run it (A white 'loading' screen briefly appears).

I've tried clearing the cached data etc. for the app, but no joy.

Does anyone have any ideas, other than a full re-flash?

Many thanks,

-Mat

Mine too.. ive tried a reflash, restored to original stock firmware, then flashed rom, and market still crashes! Cleared market cache as some posts suggest, but after a restore, that shouldnt matter!

Hi everyone,

I had the same problem with Android Market and also had GMail and Google Reader showing a no connection message. I also noticed that AVG AntiVirus was flagging the 'SuperUser' process as an infection. As I understand it, the MoDaCo software bypasses the usual Google checks for an 'official' Android install to enable Market access (and presumably other controlled resources such as Google Reader and GMail which are accessed using your Google mail account identity. That is my 'reasonable assumption' and I may be wrong there, so someone please correct me if I am.)

At the same time, my HTC Wildfire reported lack of connection on my Gmail but was fine with Market and GReader - weird and possibly linked. Note that I have AVG antivirus on my Wildfire but the Wildfire is stock HTC software and so has no problems flagged by AVG. GMail was ok via my laptop though.

So, on a hunch, I totally wiped the AVG antivirus from my Advent then rebooted, After that, Market, Gmail and Google Reader were working on my Advent and GMail was working on my Wildfire.

It is possible that Market, GMail and GReader were all having problems which resolved themselves, coincidentally, at the same time as I wiped AVG antivirus. Maybe??

All I can suggest is that you check to see if you have any antivirus or similar which may be causing problems.
