Guest Klutzie Posted July 8, 2011 Report Posted July 8, 2011 (edited) Hello all, Nice forum you have here  My apologies for reading the following for the millionth time, but I am a total noob and beginner in android phones. I've got an Orange San Francisco which I had someone unlock and un-brand for me, now running on Android 2.3.3 ( CyanogenMod 7.0.2 ). I ve had it for almost a month and everything runs smoothly and I'm absolutely thrilled. Problem is I've never connected it to my laptop, and I did some time ago downloading this driver: http://sanfranciscoandroid.co.uk/android/h...isco-zte-blade/ . After following Step 13, my phone has been reset (?) to the way it was the day I first got it... I've noticed that everything I had installed, are still on my SD card, however I don't know how to access them... Is there any way to turn my phone to the way it was before doing that step?? Another thing I've found odd is that it doesnt show any of my contacts... And when I try to import them from the SIM card it says that I have no contacts there... Needless to say that all my messages are gone too.. Please help, what on earth have I done?!  Edited July 8, 2011 by Klutzie
Guest flshg Posted July 8, 2011 Report Posted July 8, 2011 (edited) I suspect that whats happened is that the action of powering the phone on with volume held has initiated a TPT (total phone transfer), which is probably the same method that was used to install cyanogenmod. Basically a full reinstall of the phone as taken place. It is unfortunate that the installation files were left on your sdcard after that initial installation- they should have been deleted and this situation would not have occurred. If you allowed your contacts to have been synced to your google account prior to this reinstall, then if you re-sign in your google account on your phone now it should pull your contacts back onto the phone. If you have backed up your texts or contacts then you should be able to restore them. If not then unfortunately they're gone. Signing into your old google account and opening market should allow market to redownload your apps as well. Any photos and videos should still be on your sdcard. Although its no consolation, this wasnt your fault, its just an unfortunate set of circumstances. Edited July 8, 2011 by flshg

Thank you so much for your reply! I've followed your directions and got my contacts back. Have no idea how to get my texts back though.. But anyway it's not that important. Unfortunately, when I opened the Android Market it didn't show any of my previous apps, nor did it re-download them. Is there a setting I should go through for this? What troubles me is that the File Manager shows left files from all the apps I had installed (but can't access them) and then when it shows the memory status it says that I have absolutely nothing on the card though the space is less. Sorry, don't know if what Im saying makes any sense, but I can't put it any better... And is there any way to delete those Installation files so that this won't happen again? Thank you again for replying!! You saved me from a mini-stroke!
Guest flshg Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 Klutzie Those files and folders on your sdcard will only be data saved from your previous apps, so if you're lucky, downloading those apps again and running them should allow them to pick up some of your work. Other apps dont save their data on the sdcard, so for those the data is most likely gone. I would suggest that you download one or two apps from the market, sometimes that seems to help market refresh its records of what apps you're running. If it doesnt then you will need to redownload them. On your sdcard should be a folder named "image". Have a look inside and if there are files in there that you dont recognise then those are most likely the installation files. Either rename the folder to something else e.g. "cyanogen_tpt_image" or move the folder into some other backup folder. This is safer than deleting it as you may want to reinstall in the future with these. At the very least consider this as a chance to start afresh with a clean system, download only those apps that are useful, and make sure to backup important data more often. I recommend "titanium backup" to backup apps, and some SMS apps will have a backup option for texts.
Guest Klutzie Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 Ok that's lovely, I'll try it. I'll also download the Back up app asap. I can't thank you enough for helping me out and for all the tips!!
