Guest KenBW2 Posted July 8, 2011 Report Posted July 8, 2011 (edited) I wanted to restore this poll since the one by StevenHarper seems to have been abandoned. Nontheless, thanks for the many helpful posts you've done, Stephen. But we need one for the new roms which have been released. Would be interesting to see how many are still on which version. I'll set up some charts etc once there's sufficient data in here. I'd appreciate it if someone could make the post a sticky, possibly in the ROMs subforum if possible Vote away! Guest k0zmic Posted July 8, 2011 Report Posted July 8, 2011 Nice work, this should certainly be a sticky.
Guest Atomix86 Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 Still rocking swedish spring on the blade, truly a fantastic firmware
Guest Anil k Solanki Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 (edited) Still rocking swedish spring on the blade, truly a fantastic firmware I used SS RLS5 for a few months and you're right it is fantastic. However, now I am using Cyanogen 7, this thing is "off the hook"! Nightly 125+, includes the patches, and it really runs like a dream. But the real beauty is the stuff under the hood. Over clockable kernel, built in screen lock delay, built in screen shots, the damn power widget some folks love so much, the list just goes on. If you use it with Launcher Pro, it just becomes stupid fast. Not a little bit faster, a LOT faster. I am not trying to convert anyone, but once you've tried CM 7 125+, there is really no going back. Guest heavyduty00 Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 yea totally agree about cm7, screenshot option on power button is just the best, and quick pin unlock is great!
Guest Mushroom_Lord Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 I am pretty amazed that more people are using Ginger Stir Fry than Cm7... The only real advantage is faster scrolling
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 Well good idea  Can help new users to choose a Rom Using CM7 RC1 (gen2) compiled from sources.

Thats the ONLY reason I havent used CM7, because of all the posts I've read, but I could do with the extra goodies which aren't yet in GSF, but I'd still need a good battery life also. Thanks!

Anil. I still get gps reboots and from time to time unpredictable behavior with CM 7. I totally agree the features are awesome but it's not stable enough if you use GPS frequently and for long durations.
Guest ididmytime Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 I'm shocked so many people are using SS still. I do believe though it's because a certain percentage can't/don't want to upgrade to GEN2.

Guest shmizan Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 I am pretty amazed that more people are using Ginger Stir Fry than Cm7... The only real advantage is faster scrolling  and a MUCH battery life, and NO bugs, and NO GPS reboots and and and...
Guest Mushroom_Lord Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 and a MUCH battery life, and NO bugs, and NO GPS reboots and and and... Depends on who you are really. I don't get reboots or have any bugs - and its been like that since at least nightly 80 for me. Battery doesn't seem any worse on Cm7 to me either.

I totally agree the features are awesome but it's not stable enough if you use GPS frequently and for long durations. Hi Productivity, I am currently using N125+ which you can get here; N125+ Forum post link. I have to confess to only using the GPS for quick bursts, 5-10 mins. But by all acounts N125+ which is the regular Nightly patched by, damn, I forget his user name. He applied some patches one of which is the GPS patch. I have had zero issues with this build. And I find the battery life to be excellent. I did however, do a factory reset and wipe, reformatted my EXT partition, and the regular partition, after I flashed. Then after reboot I let Google download my settings and apps, Google backup actually works, first time for me. Then I only copied my media fies back to the Sd card, movies, pictures, music etc. No system files whatsoever, so far ROCK SOLID. I hope this helps. Anil. Edited July 9, 2011 by Anil k Solanki
Guest ididmytime Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 and a MUCH battery life, and NO bugs, and NO GPS reboots and and and... No bugs? Guess you like having no led notifications then. All Roms have bugs currently, there is no perfect Rom.

Guest ididmytime Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 well that is not a bug, untill zte release the kernel that will be fixed, nothing wbaw can do much about.. Nobody knows how to fix it apart from the CM devs, as ZTE clearly could care less on fixing it, along with the SIP audio issue. It doesn't matter if the kernel is released or not. If it was common knowledge, it would of been fixed in other roms with open source kernels, like SS.

Thanks Anil, I must admit I was using CM7 Green and not the latest nightly when experiencing these GPS issues. I am currently on wbaw's Ginger Stir Fry v9 and it is way more stable GPS wise. I use GPS for tracking when I go riding so I run it for 3 to 5 hours at a time. CM7 Green would work most of the time but sometimes I would finish up a ride only to see that my phone was asking for my pin code after a reboot. I have yet to try GSF for tracking (tomorrow hopefully!) but will try the nightly 125 for the coming week and see how it goes. Is this GPS fix the one you were referring to? : Link
Guest JT_daniel Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 I use GSF and I'm getting close to 85+ hours battery life (I'm on 9% left and it's run for 87 hours) and I haven't even calibrated the battery yet. I used to get 60 in SS, AFTER calibration. Super smooth scrolling, insanely fast GPS fix, Gingerbread- Wbaw's GSF all the way! Can't comment about CM7 since I've never tried it. I'm not too much of a ROM hopper, I prefer staying on a stable ROM for a month at a time.. GSF all the way!

N126 is out and has all the patches applied and some other stuff, so I would just use that. Get it from the Cyanogen sites nightly section, or easier still use ROM Manager Premium and do it all in the app. I hope this helps you, Anil.

I'm on Blue Ginger and have noticed an increase in battery life, but it still will only last a day, maybe through till the morning. I charge every night, but I do need to. I don't understand how people have smartphones and don't use them :S
Guest swisstourist Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 and where is the rom with a ad-hoc working???
Guest Ron=) Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 CM7 Has such a slow camera autofocus on the stock cam app. :|
Guest Anil k Solanki Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 and where is the rom with a ad-hoc working??? Hi swisstourist, I am guessing that Ad-Hoc is not something most people would use. What you use it for? Ad-Hoc Wi-Fi is pretty useless unless the two devices have something in common, like a game, or an app. My PSP has Ad-Hoc but that's so I can play other very nearby PSP users wirelessly. Would be really interested to know how you would use it. Over to you... Anil.
