San Francisco restarting constantly

My wife has an OSF that has recently started getting a problem of constant rebooting when unplugged from a charger/pc usb cable.

Have tried a new battery, still no joy.

Have clockwork and tired many different roms (jellyfish, Swedish, original stock rom etc) although all still the same symptoms.

If the phone is left connected to the charger, it works fine 100%. Withing 15 or so seconds of unplugging, the rebooting begins, and keeps going ie screen goes black > android green man > starts up > and about 15 seconds later, the whole thing starts again.

It was bought a few months off ebay so no returning to network or shop unfortunately.

Any ideas anyone?

Is it overclocked? if so then try settign max back to 600.

otherwise...I havent a clue...you could try a gen1->gen2 tpt updgrade (which is riskless and easily reversible) to try and wipe everything and start again

Whats a gen1->gen2 tpt updgrade ? New to android sorry if this should be obvious... Would not have thought it was overclocked as have only got rid of the orange bloat rom for the mod. Can the overclocking be controlled in clockwork?

If you don't know about overclocking then don't worry-it wont be overclocking causing the problem.

In the ROMS and ROM customization sub forum there is a stickied thread about gen1->gen2 tpt upgrades.

I am recommending it for two reasons:

1) they essentially wipe the entire phone and replace it with fresh files, so it will wipe out any software issues (hopesully)

2) custom roms are now only really developed on Gen2 devices.

i think it s a hardware problem, the chip to stabiliz/control the power input is defectuous.

i would not play to much with it, still under warranty?.if not, i think it s toast, u can still unmount it and sell spare part at 10-20$ each and recover your loss on ebay. sorry!!!

say hello to your wife !

My OSF did this too, CONSTANT reboots, until I tried the Gen1 > Gen2 TPT upgrade, and I've been using it a few days, and not even a spec of it rebooting of even getting hot!
