Guest Alien Droid Posted July 12, 2011 Report Posted July 12, 2011 (edited) Hi all I'm a noob to Android so sorry for the basic questions! I've done a bit of reading including the FAQ BTW! I've just got a new Blade Gen 1 from Orange. I want to stick a new ROM/Firmware on, probably Gingerbread. Before I do that I want to Backup my stock Orange ROM before I start doing anything, just in case I need to rebuild in case it flops! What I've done so far; I've been following this thread for instructions for GEN 1 Blade!<br> the following to my SD card; UniversalAndroot v1.6.1 (http://www.multiupload.com/GMMLSXFUIK)ZTE-Blade Recovery Manager 0.36b (check you get the right one - 0.36b)Clockwork 3.0.2.8 (recovery-clockwork-3.0.2.8-blade-gen1.img) - not the ZIP file direct link Then followed the instruction as far as I can tell to the letter; Actions Install Universalandroot from the APK you downloadedLaunch Universalandroot from the App DrawerChoose Go RootUnzip ZTE-Blade Recovery Manager from the ZIP you downloadedInstall ZTE-Blade Recovery Manager from the APKLaunch ZTE-Blade Recovery Manager from the App DrawerAllow the ZTE-Blade Recovery Manager App to have Superuser RightsHit the Recovery tab.Hit the MENU button on your device and choose Update DatabaseChoose Install RecoveryIf you have more than one IMG file on the sdcard you will be presented with a list - choose recovery-clockwork-3.0.2.8-blade-gen1.imgSo it looks like all this went ok. But now I want to Backup my Stock Orange ROM. Am I doing this correctly, see below. I run "Recovery Manager" from apps Select "Firmware" tab Then select "Backup Current Firmware"! I get the following error "Error Sorry currently only ClockworkMod Recovery is supported for backing up your Firmware!" I've done this whole process twice now, first time using a 4.0.0.8 version of Clockwork Recovery but had same results so tried the older version as above. Thanx for any help. I am stuck  Edited July 12, 2011 by Alien Droid
Guest Thar Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 I get the same message. Download ROM Manager from the Android Market that also has the option of backing up your ROM with using ClockWork.
Guest Pondlife Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 Just boot into clockwork and do the backup from there if you really want it, worth noting that you won't be able to load it all that easily anyway as you'll likely switch to gen2 using tpt for gingerbread anyway and so the tpt of orange stock would be easier if you have to put it back to stock.
