Is my phone overheating?

I installed a temperature monitoring widget recently.

Most of the time it hovers around 30 degrees © but when I wake it from sleep it often reads 50-70 degrees C and then quickly falls to normal. The phone doesnt feel particularly hot.

Is this a bug or is the phone faulty?
