Guest Solidare Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 (edited) Afternoon all, Google are currently rolling out a new market app for 2.2 onwards Check it out, it's quite nice. Download InstallMarket.bat (try this if the apk will not install from the device - apk and bat must be on desktop) Edited July 14, 2011 by Solidare
Guest Spudals1 Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 whenever i go to install it, it says application not installed.. :(
Guest boh Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 (edited) whenever i go to install it, it says application not installed.. :( Maybe you must install it via CWM. Zip the file and put it on SD root, then rename it with name update.zip, theh install it via CWM or you can install it via Vega tool Edited July 13, 2011 by boh
Guest Solidare Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 whenever i go to install it, it says application not installed.. :( Hi Spudals1 Are you trying to install it from your device? I've managed to install with both Android Commander and from the device so not to sure why you're having trouble. If you have adb working try this Install batch file the apk you downloaded will need to be on the desktop. This will directly replace the vending.apk on the device. I've tested this on my Vega running Corvus5 sp1 but as always, do a backup just incase anything goes wrong.
Guest Minimonkey Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 Just installed the apk file on cyanogen, works a treat cheers
Guest cockerz71 Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 Hi Just downloaded and Installed it on R8 rom and it works fine....cheers!

Guest scarrie Posted July 14, 2011 Report Posted July 14, 2011 Google announced this for phones, how well does this version work on tablets and how does it compare with the existing tablet version?
Guest simonta Posted July 14, 2011 Report Posted July 14, 2011 Thanks Solidare. It's a big improvement in my opinion. Only thing is, the app descriptions are mostly coming up in German! I've checked the regional settings and all is well. Any clues folks?
Guest gevans3342 Posted July 14, 2011 Report Posted July 14, 2011 It looks pretty good on the Vega (Corvus 5 ROM) I thought it was a tablet version to be honest, it certainly makes great use of the bigger screen.. Top job !:)
Guest dbaseii Posted July 14, 2011 Report Posted July 14, 2011 Installed with no problems on corvus5. Looks great Thanks
Guest scarrie Posted July 14, 2011 Report Posted July 14, 2011 I tried it out for myself and found I prefer the tablet specific market. This one left me with two market icons and it force closed when viewing a few apps. I also think the layout of the tablet market is better on large screens. That said there are graphical improvements which I hope will come to the tablet version soon.

I think the layout is just a little bit off due to the absence of the movies tab and it looks a little 'grainy' due to it being an expanded version of a mobile app. Edit: other thing I noticed is if I try and install something in the tablet market it just opens up this new market and I have to search for the app again Edited July 14, 2011 by HypoTurtle

The new market should update or replace the old one, not run along side it. The apk must be named Vending.apk and pushed to system/app/ - if it will not install from the device. The batch file that i posted renames the com.android.vending.apk before pushing it to the vega. (must be on desktop) It sounds to me like you've got two markets in the system/app/ folder on your device. Edited July 14, 2011 by Solidare

I simply installed it by getting it from my dropbox on device. So yeah I expect that is why it ended up with two copies. Thanks
Guest derffie Posted July 14, 2011 Report Posted July 14, 2011 NICE! Thanks dude, I'm running vegacomb 1.7 and I just downloaded and installed... NO ISSUES, other than slow initial run. Many thanks!
Guest Yogimax Posted July 14, 2011 Report Posted July 14, 2011 (edited) I installed it and it looked good until I came to upgrade some apps. When I went to the changelog, the information was in Russian! I have now uninstalled and gone back to the official current version by going to applications, choosing market and selecting uninstall updates. Edited July 14, 2011 by Yogimax

It doesn't replace the stock as it's called finsky (com.google.android.finsky) What changes is that when you select the mini market logo (which has changed) you get a choice of which one you get to launch, so although the market was renamed the link to this shortcut remains. Guest Kevrae Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 Really do like this new market looks good on the vega and looks superb on my desire HD.
