Guest Mettafox Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 I am having a very big problem, need help urgently. I did update from 2.1 (Gen1) to 2.2 (Gen2), with the updater from my operator. Today, I was for install a Custom ROM 2.3, but I selected the wrong ROM and I chose my Stock ROM 2.1 Gen 1. Now the device does not work, the device starts up, but doesn't pass from the droid image. My device is Sapo A5 (varient of ZTE Blade). Please I need urgently help. Sorry for my bad english.
Guest k0zmic Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 Is the updater from your operator the Windows Flasher thing? If so I think you can re-run it which will re-install the 2.2 ROM, do get a second opinion from someone else before you do that though. BTW your English is far better than some people from Britain :).

BTW your English is far better than some people from Britain :). The problem is, I can't enter in the FTM mode. I tried use the updater, but doesn't work, the Clockworkmod Recovery doesn't work too. My operator updater: Note: The updater language is portuguese, but I think you can see what kind of updater is. I really need help, I don't know what I can do to restore the android again. In another words, I installed a Gen1 ROM in a Gen2 device. Edited July 13, 2011 by Mettafox
Guest k0zmic Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 This might be of some help: http://android.modaco.com/topic/337757-update-save-ur-bricked-v880-and-also-the-imei/ Have a read of it and see if you can get that diagnostic mode to come up.

Guest k0zmic Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 The Orange San Francisco ROM works with the Sapo A5? Honestly, I'm not sure unfortunately and I can't find an answer.
Guest Mettafox Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 (edited) Honestly, I'm not sure unfortunately and I can't find an answer. I don't understand this part: For those who wanna perform NV backup or restore should know that, u can't make a nvm backup or restore unless FTM mode of stock recovery has been launch, for this action need to be done with the FTM protocol instead of DFU mode. so just flash back the stock recovery and boot it to FTM mode before running this official downloader. select both RF/BT/IMEI/ulock info and nv backup option , u will get a proper working nvm for future use. ) What I need to do in this part? How to do this: so just flash back the stock recovery and boot it to FTM mode before running this official downloader. Edited July 13, 2011 by Mettafox

Guest wbaw Posted July 14, 2011 Report Posted July 14, 2011 (edited) You just need to install a Gen2 rom using Clockworkmod. You should be able to flash clockworkmod using fastboot. Edited July 14, 2011 by wbaw

If that is the case and you have now lost your IMEI, then you need to follow the instructions in that thread to get your IMEI back. When you ran the Portuguese updater, it will have created a file called channel1.nvm in C:\Windows\sysdy (a hidden folder). try your best to find that file, and follow the instructions in that guide to restore it to your phone, that will fix your IMEI. If you can't find that file, then you will need to edit the one in that guide. If you don't understand it, then explain what you don't understand.
Guest Mettafox Posted July 14, 2011 Report Posted July 14, 2011 Yes my problem is solved now with Fastboot. But with this tutorial, I lost my IMEI: After the search... I can not find the file. I put all hidden files visible and did a search and did not find the file, much less the folder sysdy. Well, can you explain more correct and / or detailed, how to change the file Channel1.nvm and how to recover the IMEI by the program? Sorry, I'm portuguese, and I only understand the correct english.

I think you have to download this file: http://hotfile.com/dl/115553882/d8d599f/Channel1.nvm.html Then use the Hex editor to add your own one in the file. Your IMEI will be under the battery. When you enter it using the Hex editor it looks like the numbers on the back of your phone have to be put in the other way around e.g. 76 should be entered 67.

One thing, the IMEI in the Channel1.nvm is written in this format and order: Exemple: 3A 54 76 98 01 21 31 41 Or is to write in this format and order: Exemple: 3 45 67 89 10 12 13 14 ?? I put in the file in this format: For this post I changed the first, second and the penultimate number of the IMEI. 6A 49 95 05 00 80 85 03 Is correct right? If is correct, what I need to do to restore the IMEI now?? Edited July 15, 2011 by Mettafox

Why did you do that? You just needed fastboot, fastboot wont screw your imei up. There was no need to mess up your phone with that guide & lose your imei, good luck getting it back.

If is correct, what I need to do to restore the IMEI now?? I don't think that is correct. I've written another guide for that here, see if that helps you. An IMEI of 3 45 67 89 10 12 13 14 would become 3A 54 76 98 01 21 31 41. <first digit>A, <digit3><digit2>, <digit5><digit4>, ..., <digit15><digit14>. Why did you do that? You just needed fastboot, fastboot wont screw your imei up. There was no need to mess up your phone with that guide & lose your imei, good luck getting it back. Although most of the time I would agree, since he did a stock 2.2 upgrade, fastboot wouldn't have been available to him - he only got it working because he followed that guide.
Guest Mettafox Posted July 15, 2011 Report Posted July 15, 2011 (edited) I did not know at the beginning... After the first guide, my IMEI is not the original, and I want to retrieve the original IMEI again. Only after searching, I saw that the solution was via Fastboot. My device problem is solved now, but the IMEI problem remains. I can not enter in the FTM mode, I have installed the ClockworkMod. I only need recover my IMEI, because my device works well now. The Fastboot mode fixed the problem, and now I have the rom Ginger Stir Fry Gen2. But my IMEI is not the original. I did the update from Gen1 to Gen2 by the updater from my operator. How to do now? How to resolve the problem now? I need detailed help, because I do not want screw up everything. Device: Sapo A5 (Portuguese ZTE Blade derivative). Current ROM: Ginger Stir Fry Gen2. Current device system: Gen 2 (update to Gen 2 by the updater from my operator). Edited July 15, 2011 by Mettafox
Guest Mettafox Posted July 15, 2011 Report Posted July 15, 2011 (edited) I have news... I guess I solved the problem with this guide: http://android.modac...ng-a-zte-blade/ I succeeded to retrieve the IMEI, right now I have the original IMEI. You could have said that in the forum had the Firmware with the Sapo A5 Froyo stock rom. I used the blade_custom_gen2_firmware_v7, exist any problem if I now install the Sapo A5 stock rom or if I need send the device to warranty? If I need to send the device to warranty, the firmware I used, will cause problems with warranty? If I change the rom, the original IMEI keeps? The operators can know that I lost my IMEI and I had to retrieve the IMEI? I ask again, the firmware I used will cause problems with the device warranty? I need answers to these questions, is important. I need do all again, but use the Sapo A5 Froyo Firmware?[url=http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?cvazut6t8vr9z5y] In my build.prop I have this information: ro.build.id=GRJ22 ro.build.display.id=Ginger Stir Fry Beta13 ro.build.version.incremental=eng..20110525.051926 ro.build.version.sdk=10 ro.build.version.codename=REL ro.build.version.release=2.3.4 ro.build.date=Wed 25 05:26:47 CST 2011 ro.build.date.utc=1306272407 ... ro.product.model=ZTE-BLADE ro.product.brand=ZTE ... ro.product.locale.language=en ro.product.locale.region=GB ... ro.build.sw_internal_version=GB_GENERIC_P729V1.0.0B09 I am portuguese, and I have questions about these informations. No, the operators shouldn't be able to know you lost and found the IMEI. Edited July 15, 2011 by k0zmic

Guest k0zmic Posted July 15, 2011 Report Posted July 15, 2011 If your ROM is Ginger Stir Fry then that's a custom ROM so they probably won't accept it for warranty if you send it for repair/replacement with that ROM on it.

Yes I know, but my question remains in, I used a diferent Firmware from the original firmware. In this page: I see the Portugal Sapo A5 Froyo Firmware. Portugal Sapo Froyo firmware Firmware package with stock ROM (md5: 39799c4f155826e7ffb959db085d12b7). Firmware package with no ROM (md5: fd60bc76881b18252b40d911a6603046). Original file location: see this thread. And, for this guide: I used the blade_custom_gen2_firmware_v7 My question is, I need do all again, but use the Portugal Sapo A5 Froyo Firmware?? If yes, which one? With ROM or with no ROM? Why I ask this, because, if I need to back to the Sapo A5 stock rom, the firmware is not the original, and the operators will see that I have modified the equipment.
Guest wbaw Posted July 15, 2011 Report Posted July 15, 2011 A custom rom shouldn't affect your warranty against hardware failures.
