Is my Blade getting too hot?

Hi everyone, I've had my Blade now for a month or two, and the phone has been working well. But, over the last few days, the phone has been getting very hot (around the battery area on the back cover) when I've been playing Angry Birds. The battery power has been dropping very fast as well. I have noticed that the bottom phone has a slight blue-ish tint to it now, and if you take the back cover off, it looks like some of the plastic has melted!

Is this normal? Could this have been caused by changing the ROM on the phone? And if the phone is DOA, how am I going to be about to take it back to Orange, as it's been altered so much? (New ROM, Sofiz "Blade" screen cover and Android stick on the rear!)

Cheers everyone : )

Thanks for the reply. I have overclocked my Blade, but only to 691 MHz. What do suggest would be a safe limit for the phone? Cheers : )

Less than 652MHz or lower I'd say.

Ive overclocked mine to 710 it def varies phone to phone. Just lower the setting and see if that helps if not lower it some more.

I'll try and lower it, and see what happens : )

anyone tried to use the Blade in a hot country (i.e. not the UK)? I haven't overclocked mine, nor do i dare to

However I was in Brazil last summer, and just with normal use the Blade got veeeeeery hot. When I plugged it into charge, I thought it was going to burst in to flames!

I watch movies over wifi with emit and the device can get very hot, plus living in Greece, Athens the temp is anywhere from 30-40 degrees and I have no problems at all.

Device gets hot but so far not crashing due to the heat.

I run mine at 600MHz (using Ginger Stir Fry ROM, which is not overclockable) and the top half of my phone (where processor is?) gets pretty darn hot. I usually remove the silicon case to improve the heat dissipation when playing games.

The blade (or battery, or both?) has temperature sensors. If you use an app like Elixir you can check the temp of your phone / battery.

Not that I know what the safe limits are, but it's better than guessing what temps you're reaching.

I also assume there is some kind of failsafe where if a limit is passed then the phone will shut off or force its clock speed down or something.

In setcpu you can make a rule if temp > X (i use 50) than lower the frenquecy to 480 for an ex.
