Making 3G default connection

I'm sure there must be some way of doing this, and would value some help:-

Whilst I'm in the house the phone is connected to my wireless network, but when I go outside the house I turn on 3G. This works fine until it stumbles accross a wireless network it might like to try and log on to and then3G dies until it's decided it doesn't want to log on to that network. Is there any way of telling it that when I turn on 3G that I want it to ignore wireless networks? I know I can turn off wireless, but I'd like to have it do this automatically if poss.
