Acer Liquid ROMs & VOIP advice

Hi guys,

I have been trying several ROMs and I have been trying to use my Liquid to make VOIP calls and I would like to ask your advice.

Problem:

- Acer Liquid A1 (256Mb RAM) + Acer Froyo 4.002.14 with latest T&L (Wifi seems to turn off without apparent reason with T&L while trying to acquire IP (not frequent but happens)

- Wifi takes A LOT to search Wifi networks after turning ON (this happens with T&L)

- I have a JustVOIP account.

- I already tried SIPDROID and INTERNETCALLS. SIPDROID does not always work, many times it doesn´t allow VOIP calls like it was blocked by the router on several WIFI networks where my PC / NOKIA N81 (symbian 3rd edition with symbian´s built-in VOIP support) / iPAD works flawlessly. This with my omnipresent JustVoip account.

- this problem also occurs on my Android 2.1 tablet + Liquid with stock Acer ROMs (2.1 or 2.2)

What I want:

- this problem solved (VOIP Calls with justvoip account + have a decent battery drain / wifi)

It is VERY lame when I have to ask my girlfriend´s N81 to make a simple + fast (and as good as a GSM call) VOIP call, whereas my much more advanced Acer Liquid ... can´t!

It seems that you have problems with your private lan. Maybe your router don't forward correctly udp packets.

Try to use a tcp connection to try if it works (if your provider supports it). Tcp is inefficient for voip, but works also with poor router's nat implementations.

Hi fear! Thank you a lot for answering.

At home I usually don´t have problems, those problems come above when on public networks (coffees, shopping, starbucks, universities, etc) but I don´t think the problem is with those routers.

On those places I have zero problems using VOIP with my JustVOIP account on an N81 + my PC + my iPad + my old WinMo 6.1 smartphone with one lousy VOIP software. Only Liquid with SIPDROID (or similar) act as the router´s firewall blocked. If N81/PC/iPAD have no problems on those networks, it´s weird Liquid has...but it does!

I´ve tried stock 2.1 and 2.2, I´ve tried LS and T&L ROMs with no luck. I also tried one 2.3 ROM with SIPDROID and had the same issue... The I use my girlfriend´s N81 and....perfect VOIP on the same network!!! So I put the blame on Liquid´s ROMs *or* SIPDROID / some other VOIP SW.

Any ideas?
