I know there are so so many of these topics about but every single one I read makes me even more confused! My boyfriend flashed his phone and he can't be asked to tell me, charming right :P?

So I've been watching this video

and it's still not making sense :| I have no idea what to download or where and I also have no idea what to do, what a surprise!

I know there is this guide but I can't make much sense of it :/ all I'm wanting to do is root my phone, put a ROM on it (suggestions are fabulous!) and then download all my beloved apps, not much to ask ay? If anyone would assist me I'd be so grateful. I just need to know what to download and what to look at.

My Firmware version is 2.1-update1, whatever that means.

*tears hair out* since when has having a new phone been so confusing. I only went into town for an interview and I came back home with a new phone :P

First, download and install a new boyfriend, there are plenty of them so you're spoilt for choice.

That guide you linked to has good instructions, dont let the masses of text intimidate you. You basically just need to do the steps 1 and 2, or 1 and 3. I would suggest 1 and 3. When you come to download a rom I would suggest Swedish spring for good stability, battery life and features. Ask again here if you get stuck, there are plenty of people who have gone through the process and are willing to help.

Here's how I did it.

Download ASTRO FILE MANAGER from the market. You will use this to install the root app.

Now download UNIVERSAL ANDROOT from here http://www.addictive...chment_id=41115

Once this has downloaded, pop it onto your SD card and open ASTRO FILE MANAGER.

Find the UNIVERSAL ANDROOT file and follow the instructions.

Well done, you're phone is now rooted.

From here you must download ROM MANAGER from the market.

After this, follow these instructions.

There's no point in me typing it out when all you need is here.

Just a tip, for my first ROM, i chose the MoDaCo custom. Just to get the hang of things.
