Help! I've lost my contacts after ROM re-install

Hi everyone, as some of you may know from my post over the last few days on here, that I've been having a bit of a mare with my Blade.

After deciding to change my ROM from CM7 "Green" V5 to "Blue Ginger" my phone hasn't worked right at all (not blaming the ROM, though......) after installing the ROM, I would get force closes on everything. I couldn't even install ROM manager to re-install the ROM, so I had to do it through "recovery" mode. Followed the FAQ on how to do this to the letter, but when I've booted back into the ROM, it still keeps locking up.

And to top it all off, my contacts have vanished. I installed Titanium Backup, and re-installed everything, but my contacts don't come back. I have even tried going back to "Green V5" and even SS! Where could they have gone? They are on the backup, but never appear.

Cheers in advance for any help : )

EDIT: What's the most-stable CM7 ROM at the moment? I've had enough of my phone sort-of working. I just want it to be "a phone" now.......

Can you install Root Explroler?

I suggest you using Ginger Stir Fry. Excellent ROM!

Are your contacts stored on your sim card as well? If so, you may have to double check in your contacts app that it is set to display your sim contacts rather than just your phone ones. Do your contacts show up in google when you log in on a pc?

Had you sync your contacts with your google account before your ROM change?

If so they should stored online.

Try settings > accounts > your gmail > sync contacts.

You can also import/export your contacts in contacts tab which i tend to do before a ROM change just to be sure I've still got them. Just some advice for the next time :)

@ K.J: What's Root Explorer for? And I think I have tried "Ginger Stir Fry" But I kept getting "force closes" all the time. Maybe it's down to the way I've installed the ROM. What's the correct way of installing one ROM over another?

@fishg: I thought my contacts were stored on my SIM (as this is how I got them over from my old phone) but how do I access them? I have tried to import them through the contacts menu, but I get the message: "No contacts on your SIM card"

@Chris Banks: Thanks for the heads up on the "sync" way of doing things. I wish I knew about this before I lost all my phone numbers!

Thanks to everyone for the advice : )

I love the fact that you can store numbers with your google account, so easy and yet so damn useful.

I have had a look on my Google account, and found no numbers. Is that because the phone sync'd with my account the last time I installed a ROM? (last night)

When on gmail, click contacts on the left and click on the more actions drop down. There should be a restore contacts option from the past 30 days. Ive never used it myself though.. but hope this works for you!

If it does work you could try exporting your contacts to a single file on your PC from the same drop down menu to be sure you cant loose them again.

Cheers for the help, Chris. Sadly, when I try this, all I get is e-mail addresses, not phone numbers : (

Not got a backup to go back to one of your old roms to get them from?

It looks like you didn't wipe data before you flashed the ROM. If you get force - closing problems like this then this is the solution!

Ah, sorry I could be of any help.

Do you happen to have any backup you made with CWM as suggested above?

I have managed to regain some of my contacts by taking them off my Wife's phone. I have also backed them up to my Google account (I'm not going through this again!)
