Guest not relevant Posted July 16, 2011 Report Posted July 16, 2011 (edited) I have SIP Internet Calling configured on my Blade (running Ginger Stir Fry) and it works well but I want to set up some contacts to default to Internet Calling and have all other contacts default to regular calls via O2. Specifically I want some contacts with 0845 (non-geographic) numbers to go via Internet Calling since they're really expensive on O2 but everything else should go through O2 to utilize my monthly call allowance. Does anyone know of a way to configure this or if there is an alternate dialer that can select Internet Calling either for specific contacts or by matching area codes or similar. Thanks, -- Not Relevant Edited July 16, 2011 by not relevant

You can save sip addresses like this in your contacts book, and then dial them directly from the contacts book. I agree that geing able to route certain calls via SIP automatically would be easier...
Guest brokebloke Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 In settings "call settings" "use internet calling" set to "only for internet calls" Then in contacts select a contact then edit, then scroll down and select "more" then at the bottom you should see a "internet call" box. add your number there and you should be good to go.
Guest Maz2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 I have SIP Internet Calling configured on my Blade (running Ginger Stir Fry) and it works well .... I thought the rear speaker issue wasnt fixed on this ROM? With the rear speaker impossible to deactivate, SIP is unusable as far as I'm concerned. I am still using Greeen V5 for that very reason.

Hmm. Thanks but I'm not sure I understand your advice. Do you mean I can somehow assign a fake SIP address to a regular phone number to force an internet call?
Guest Ralph Martin Posted July 19, 2011 Report Posted July 19, 2011 Hmm. Thanks but I'm not sure I understand your advice. Do you mean I can somehow assign a fake SIP address to a regular phone number to force an internet call? Well, yes, but not a fake one. Anyone on SIP has an address of the form somename@somesipprovider. For example, this might be the SIP address [email protected] (made up, not a real example). Your sip provider may also route to PSTN numbers - but that is up to them, and they may or may not charge you for doing so. They could, for example use the form usualphonenumber@somesipprovider for calls to the ordinary PSTN network, e.g. [email protected] to call 01234567890. If your provider allows this, then you can put [email protected] in the contacts book as someones sip address.

My provided supports calling PSTN numbers - that's my main use of SIP as it's cheaper for non-geographic numbers than my mobile provider. I'll ask their customer support if they support calling PSTN numbers via a SIP address
