Guest wi-fli Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 Mostly web surfing if I'm honest. Dozens of apps installed, none of them ever used...! But also, v recently discovered that (using Skifta and Vplayer) my Humax HDR-T2 PVR (black box that sits under the telly in the lounge) will now (since last week's firmware upgrade added a DLNA server to it) stream recorded TV progs to the Vega over wifi, beautifully...!
Guest lesd Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 Surfing, Music Vids. But also Education. As a teacher, I have to teach 16 year old kids what the buttons mean on a Scientific calculator. It's scary that they don't know already, but there's some apps that turn my Vega (or their phones) into a BIG calculator. Since they need some basic maths practice, I also introduce them to Maths Attack. Whenever I need to demonstrate something novel, I always check the marketplace.
Guest phil8715 Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 I use my Vega for sending the odd email and watching BBC iPlayer and itv Player. Reading on the kindle app is brilliant too, atm I am reading Alan Sugar's biography What You See Is What You Get.
Guest jevdroid Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 (edited) Besides the usual stuff (e-mail, bit of browsing, the odd movie on the plane, some games, some powerpoint presentations, reading news, checking the weather, control my squeezeboxes) I use it a lot on the golfcourse. Rules & decision book (I'm a referee), keeping score (when I play myself), checking swingvideo's using V1 golf and sometimes as a range-finder (though it needs an external GPS decoder for that - when this thing breaks I'll prolly buy an alternative with GPS included). It's a really cool thing! Edited July 18, 2011 by jevdroid

Guest jevdroid Posted July 21, 2011 Report Posted July 21, 2011 how did u get movies on it? Copy from my NAS to the SD Card through ES File Explorer. They are converted to H.246 + AAC using FreeMake. Play through moboplayer, works great!
Guest sn0wwhite Posted July 21, 2011 Report Posted July 21, 2011 Just flashed ny first rom but i intend to do all the usual, browse, games, films, music, bit of theming what i wood do on my dhd but now better on this plus my laptop to bulky
Guest mclanecxantia Posted July 21, 2011 Report Posted July 21, 2011 i do use my computers, and the vega is no exception, mainly for computerchess. of course my computers are all windows OS. the vega is the first android OS and step by step the computerchess programmers optimize the android OS to be a good platform for computerchess programs. of course it will be much more interesting in the moment a new hardware (maybe the tegra3 in an advent2 ) arrives and we do not have a dual core but instead a quad core hardware.
Guest derffie Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 my uses are: 'tinternetz yootoobin' bbc iplayer me emails and weather widgets games for my wife, I mean LOADS, shes hacked her way through so many games on it, I'm lucky if I get a chance to use it. but for me, personal number one use, the biggest apps I go for: ART sketch book mobile, canvas mainly fresco, its as good as a sketchbook and great to jot down ideas for illustrations on the move. And yeah, the screen is the only thing that lets it down as a fully portable sketch/paint pad, but I learned to work around its quirks, I know a Ipad is better for artsy things but I refuse to buy one on my own principles.
Guest TimboDavis Posted July 25, 2011 Report Posted July 25, 2011 I use mine at work mostly! I work on aircraft for a living and I've loaded all of the manuals into the EZPDFReader Library. That app absolutely rocks in my humble opinion. Makes my work life really very fast - a great deal faster than using a PC. In those 'quieter' moments, I surf with the old Dolphin and check out some youtube vids. If I could only get r8 to work with OpenVPN I'd be watching some of those BBC and ITV programmes too; I work abroad though! C'est La Vie! ;-)
