Guest Adam:) Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 hi i'm new to all this and forgive me if this is posted anywhere else i have a vega running vegacomb1.6 i have downloaded 1.6 to 1.7 update my question is how do i upgrade it from 1.6 to 1.7,is there a thread somewhere or something on youtube do i need the moddedstock base or will i have it? sorry for being stupid but as i've said i'm new to this any help in pointing me in the right direction would be hugely appreciated u need to go in recovery on cwm, wit 1.6 on. then perform a back up, then i think u flash to the modded stock, then restore, then u just put on the update patch for 1.7. if im wrong, please correct me anyone :)
Guest Durbybard Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 u need to go in recovery on cwm, wit 1.6 on. then perform a back up, then i think u flash to the modded stock, then restore, then u just put on the update patch for 1.7. if im wrong, please correct me anyone :) I am not sure that will work getting 1.7 on, you can follow the above steps and then instead of restoring your backup just install the full 1.7 rom, that will work for sure, and you also have a backup of 1.6 should you decide to go back. Make sure you back up your 1.6 rom, run the modded stock rom then full install of 1.7, if you don't have the modded stock rom before you install 1.7 you will get a black screen (like i did hehehehe). Also on the full 1.7 install, you don't have to do the wipe cache, wipe data and wipe dalvik cache like previous rom installs as the 1.7 rom is an update of the modded stock rom base.

This changes the partition sizes on the Vega that are needed to successfully install 1.7.

Guest norihaga Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 Have a look here for details http://tabletroms.co...-Stock-ROM-Base Basically follow the instructions on the myadventvega.com website but use the modded rom instead of the stock one thanks alot one more thing is it easy to then install vegacomb 1.7 (i know i'm being a pain) do i just follow the youtube Advent Vega Modaco Custom Rom R6 Install Guide but install the vegacomb instead
Guest Durbybard Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 thanks alot one more thing is it easy to then install vegacomb 1.7 (i know i'm being a pain) do i just follow the youtube Advent Vega Modaco Custom Rom R6 Install Guide but install the vegacomb instead Nope, you don't.... Ok before you undertake this, make sure you have the full 1.7 vegacomb file on your sdcard, to do this connect vega to pc, turn on usb on vega, go to pc, look for vega sd card on your pc, copy the vegacomb 1.7 full zipped file across (just drag and drop onto sdcard, try not to put into a folder. OK, step one, get the modded stock rom from this forum. Step two, put the vega into flash mode, (to do this you need to have the usb drivers installed, if not you can also find them on the forum, to get into flash mode, plug your usb cable into your vega and pc with the speaker volume up, you hear a sound to say the pc is connected to the vega, now power off the vega holding the power button, (you hear a sound on pc to say disconnected) once the screen goes blank let goes of power button and hold the back button for 2 seconds, count 1,2, now still holding the back button hold the power button for 2 secs, count 1,2, at this point you will hear a sound on your pc, now let go of the power then the back button, you are in flash mode, if the drivers need installing, point the driver installer to the usb driver files you downloaded, if you go to your device manager on the pc to check the drivers are installed, if you see everything is fine, then great, if you see yellow warning triangles next to some things, that means you need to install the drivers, right click, update driver and point to downloaded usb driver folder. Ok once you are in flash mode with all drivers installed, find the modded stock rom and double click, the dos box should start running code and installing the modded stock rom, once finished reboot your vega and and will boot into the modded stock rom, go to your apps and look for recovery, run the recovery app, this should reboot the vega into clockworkmod. When in clockworkmod, select install from sdcard using the volume down, to select use the power button, find the vegacomb 1.7 file and run it, that's it, should start to run the vegacomb 1.7 rom over the top of the modded stock rom, hopefully when done, use back button to get to reboot device screen, select reboot device, wait for vegacomb splash screen then the big blue android thing to appear, then you've done it, first time you boot is always slower than the next time, enjoy and have fun...
