Guest sharpe750 Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 Afternoon all. I've had a bit of a search around on here to try and help me with my problem but can't find anything that a thick, non pc/tablet savy bonzo like me can understand! It would appear that my usb port only works when I plug the usb lead in to it from my pc and nothing else does. I presume this is something to do with the host mode etc that I have read about but I don't have a clue how to sort it. I did find a guide pulled together by bazzlad but again.....it lost me straight away. I need things in plain English and don't have a clue how to do most things with the Vega......may as well be honest! I did manage to install corvus 5 with the help of Simon (many thanks Simon) but I think I only managed it with the grace of God....yes I am that bad with these things. So if anyone can explain why the usb doesn't work and tell me how to sort it I will be eternally greatful. If it helps these are the items I have tried in the port. USB memory stick, Vodafone 3g dongle, memory card reader. Thanks in advance. Paul.

By default, the Vega is in slave mode. To switch to host, power off the Vega. Hold down the back key and power it back on. Keep the back key pressed until you see the two penguins then release. For advice on specific devices, there are several threads on the forum. Cheers

Guest sharpe750 Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 just tried it and when I let go of the back button upon seeing the 2 penguins the device just switches itself off. Tried it several times and no joy? Simon once again you are a legend. Many thanks.
Guest sharpe750 Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 Sorted. I was holding the back button as I was pressing the on/off button instead of waiting until the screen has a slight back light on it. It works now. Now all I have to do is figure out where to look on he tablet for the things I plug into the USB.....I thought they would display straight away.

It will display in ifilemanager, you may have to wait a few moments for the vega to find and read the device...
