Activesync help needed

Wonder if anyone out there can help me out with a problem before I/my SPV/my PC/all three end up jumping out the window:

My Activesync has gone loopy in that it won't sync any Outlook data. It tries to connect, but gives up after a little while, telling me to try later, or read the synchronisation troubleshooter (which incidently gives me a nice "page not found" :? )

I can Explore Ok and my SPV can browse etc out through my PC's net connection, so I guess it kinda works.

I'm running WinXP connecting to an IMAP Exchange 2000 mailbox. Having trawled through this (helpful) forum I've tried the following:

1. grumbling

2. reboots (oh yes, 100's!)

3. uninstall Activesync, uninstall HTC USB device, reboot, reinstall Activesync

4. as 3 but with the added twist of trying a new USB port

5. JD and coke

6. 10 more B&H

7. surprising it by uninstalling Activesync whilst it's trying to connect

8. reading the manuals/EULA's etc (that's how desperate I am!)

I want to try and avoid a PC reformat (although to be honest, it could do with it) or an SPV hard reset (again!).

Any hints on what could be wrong gratefully received!

Phil
