Hi, welcome to the community.

No need for modded stock ROM. Just install Corvus5. Search for YAUDIG and use it to get your USB drivers installed for ADB (explained in the guide) and then install Corvus5. If you follow YAUDIG, and still can't get the ADB drivers installed (crucial for this first step), search for AUDI which is a tool that will install the drivers for you.

Cheers

Congratulations, and welcome to the club!

You don't NEED to install the modded stock ROM unless you want to install Vegacomb. Since you've downloaded the modded stock ROM, I assume you read about it first, and know that it includes a stable ROM manager, and this allows you to install ROMs without a PC.

Modaco R8 and Corvus5 with SP1 are stable froyo installations IMHO

Cyanogen 7 is a Gingerbread installation which has reached maturity, and is also said to be stable.

Vegacomb is a beta honeycomb installation. It's not ready for everyday use IMHO but if you want to play around, it clearly generates alot of discussion.

so should i just download cyanogen etc and install it or do stock rom first then install?

Lol i meant the modded stock aha

flash the modded stock rom following the instructions on myadventvega web site for flashing stock rom remembering to install the drivers it tells you to first.

once you get to the part where you are ready to flash stock rom i.e in nvflash recovery run the modded stock rom not the actual stock rom.

this will install the , according to lesd, "stable rom manager" so once rebooted with the modded stock rom you should be able to run clockwork mod recovery from rom manager , i cant be certain as i already had rom manager before i flashed modded stock and vegacomb so we will take lesd word for it :D .Clockwork mod recovery allows you to flash or install roms direct from your sd card so if cm7 is your flavour download the latest nightly to your sd card and leave it zipped.

run cwm recovery then in cwm wipe data, cache and under advanced option dalvik cache to clear the decks for the new rom.

once completed go to install from zip ( or something like ) point it to the location on your sd card where cm7 zip file is and it will do everything for you.

then when it is finished it will reboot into your new rom, however if as you say in your first post you want smooth and stable i would take simonta advioce and go for corvus5 as cm7 last time i used it about 3 weeks ago still hadnt sorted hardware acceleration issue fully and so hd vids played very poorly if at all whereas corvus5 seems fairly complete ( just missing geolocation really ).

however once you get the hang of backing up and flashing you can try all the roms until you find the one that suits you best :D good luck and dont forget once you have it how you like it do a complete cwm backup of your system.

Oi! Don't be holding me responsible!! :o

Seriously though, since installing the 'stable ROM manager' with the modded stock ROM, I've been swapping ROMs trying to recreate faults reported on these forums. I've backed up, installed the relevant image, tried things out and restored to the previous state a dozen or more times without problem. :D
