Blade competition on Twitter

Hi all

As many of you will be aware, over the next five weeks, ZTE UK are giving away five Blades via its @ZTE_UK twitterfeed.

Now, I know this is the Blade forum - so... er, you probably already have one... but one more can't hurt :)

You just need to follow @ZTE_UK and follow the tweeted instructions to retweet a simple message... easy.

The competition is open to UK residents only. Of course, if you're not a UK resident, but you know someone in the UK whose address you can supply should you win, then how are we or ZTE ever going to know that you're not a UK resident?

Not that I am suggesting anyone should try and cheat the system.

While this competition campaign is a transparent means of pushing up awareness and the Twitter following, the feed will become a conduit for updates on all things ZTE devices in the UK so it should be worth your while to follow anyway. It also offers people another channel to get your messages of support, advice and constructive criticism to ZTE.

ps. before you flame me for using the forum for marketing purposes, I did double-check with Paul that this would be OK....

Here are the full terms and conditions:

This Twitter competition is open to all UK residents following @ZTE_UK on Twitter aged 18 years or over, except for employees of ZTE, AxiCom, their families, agencies or any other company directly connected with the administration of this competition.

No purchase necessary.

Proof of Tweeting is not proof of our receipt of your entry. No responsibility can be accepted for entries that are lost, delayed or damaged.

To enter, simply Tweet or Re-Tweet: #ZTEBlade[insert the week of the competition 1-5] #Competition and follow @ZTE_UK

The closing dates

Entries (Re-Tweets) must be sent by midnight on 24 July 2011, 31 July 2011, 7 Aug 2011, 14 Aug 2011, 14 July 2011 or 21 Aug 2011 in order to be considered valid for each draw.

Automated entries, bulk entries or third-party entries will be disqualified, however multiple entries involving different Re-Tweets will be accepted, and entries may be made in each successive week.

The draws for each of the five prizes will take place on the Monday after each week’s closing date.

The five separate prizes each comprise one unlocked ZTE Blade/branded Orange San Francisco.

There is no cash alternative.

Winners will be chosen from all entries received by 12 midnight on the dates above at random, by an independent judge. The judge’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

Entries can only be accepted from UK residents and prizes can only be sent to a valid UK address.

Winners will be notified by individual Tweet (direct message) after each prize draw, and winners will receive their Blade within 6 weeks of the draw closing. Where we notify a winner by individual Tweet (direct massage), we will ask for confirmation of receipt by reply individual Tweet or email.

AxiCom is compliant with the Data Protection Act. We will not pass on your details to any third party without your prior consent. We will not pass on your personal details to any other organisation without your permission except for the purposes of this free prize draw which you have entered.

For a list of winners, please send an SAE marked ‘Winners’ to the Promoter’s address below, after 21 August 2011.

We reserve the right to amend these rules at any time. Entry in this free prize draw implies acceptance of these rules.

These rules are governed by English law.

Promoter: AxiCom, AxiCom Court, 67 Barnes High Street, London SW13 9LE UK

Thanks for this. As you say, I have one. But I know someone who wants one, so it's worth a go! :)

Nice :D

Are these ZTE Branded blades that you'll be giving away, or Blades branded as Orange San Franciscos?

From the Ts&Cs: "The five separate prizes each comprise one unlocked ZTE Blade/branded Orange San Francisco."

Don't tweet, don't book faces, google+ or network socially in any other way. Could you ask ZTE to run their next comp in a way that everyone can enter? would be nice :)

I suspect social networking is fairly central to this considering this line from the original post 'While this competition campaign is a transparent means of pushing up awareness' :D

By entering the competition, you tell all of your friends that ZTE exists. Everyone I know isalready long since bored of me telling them what a bargain the Blade is anyway. :P

I must admit, I only have a twitter account for entering competitions (though I do follow some twitter feeds, such as the amazon free app of the day, in an rss reader). And only have facebook because someone made me the account. :D

We'll see what we can do!

Nice idea. I don't understand why the prize is a phone that already has a successor announced. Would you not generate more interest in the ZTE brand by offering a current generation phone like the Skate, even if the winners had to wait to get their prize?

I know very little about marketing but you don't see many brands building their identity and having their first public exposure through last years stock.

The San Francisco has proved itself to be a very popular device for Orange. Most man in the street consumers are still unaware of ZTE though. With this competition we're aiming to build greater awareness among a wider audience that ZTE is a trusted manufactuer of popular handsets.

Here's a nice recent piece on Electric Pig that helps put things into perspective.

It takes years to build a trusted brand and marketing is a multifaceted discipline - this is just one small Twitter comp... a single step on a journey of a 1000 miles....

Trust me, we'll be getting our Skates on soon... :)

it' s ILLEGAL, and zte/orange will sue you.

"it's brohibided to offer free ZTE blade through website like twitter inside the EU comunity, sanction is max 1 year in jail and 5000 euro fine"

I know French is the international language, but I did think EU officials who write official documents in English could generally speak English properly.

I'm pretty sure, despite the lack of a smiley to that affect, that he's joking. Considering the specificness of what we wrote.

It's slightly amusing that someone from one of the few non-EU countries in europe knows enough about EU law to be cracking jokes about it when none of us in the EU have heard of it. :D

Yeah, it came today by special delivery. It's just an unlocked Orange San Francisco on 2.1. I've installed GSF on it to put on eBay, no need for two ;)
