Guest finbaar Posted July 21, 2011 Report Posted July 21, 2011 I hope that Elitemovil can address the concerns and reissue this ROM. I have tried CM7 and several variants of GSF and this ROM is better than them – for me at least. Everything seems to work. As for the Warez – I don’t feel to bad as I have already bought LPP of the market and I removed Quickoffice with System App Remover as I will never use it. I think I will remove LPP as well and reinstall, then my conscience is clear.

Guest k0zmic Posted July 21, 2011 Report Posted July 21, 2011 just remove the apps manually, though I am more interested in what this ROM is based on, is it AOSP or from GSF? Not AOSP, it was from a Libra IIRC so probably GSF?
Guest Psyloid Posted July 21, 2011 Report Posted July 21, 2011 Not AOSP, it was from a Libra IIRC so probably GSF? Adding warez to a rom is a sin ! People should support dev's and buy the products
Guest finbaar Posted July 21, 2011 Report Posted July 21, 2011 just remove the apps manually, though I am more interested in what this ROM is based on, is it AOSP or from GSF? You are missing the point. Of course you can remove the apps manually. What I want is the ROM to reappear here without the Warez so others can try it. It is not based on GSF either. Both this ROM and GSF are based on Libra IIRC. Still available on XDA and I have asked the dev to see the error of his ways.
Guest unrandomsam Posted July 21, 2011 Report Posted July 21, 2011 Adding warez to a rom is a sin ! People should support dev's and buy the products People shouldn't lecture to people when they commit the exact same offense. (Including the android market into a rom is exactly the same thing legally as including random warez app unless you have permission from google to do so). same with HTC_IME or making a sense rom or including zte dialer. Or releasing a leaked rom that cannot be legally be redistributed due to lack of kernel source. Wait until everything you do is 100% legal then you can lecture others on what to do. (Personally I think you should never support anyone using adware or DRM or internet connectivity for an app that has no reason for it). Dunno why the android community is so parasitical when compared to other Linux based ecosystems.
Guest unrandomsam Posted July 21, 2011 Report Posted July 21, 2011 I believe there is some of Paul's roms that have a full version of quickoffice included also (Pretty sure any license that a handset maker has does not include 3rd party redistribution rights).
Guest Psyloid Posted July 21, 2011 Report Posted July 21, 2011 (edited) So you don't think people should support dev's and pay for their apps? offcourse you do! Let me rephrase : Including non-free apps in roms is a sin :P Edited July 21, 2011 by Psyloid
Guest ThermalDroid Posted July 21, 2011 Report Posted July 21, 2011 Why is k0zmic always quoted when he didn't say it? Poor k0zmic lol
Guest galorin Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 Including paid-for apps is wrong in the same way as using and not paying for Microsoft Office is wrong. Apps released for free, through the Market, OK, fair enough. Ya know what I would rather see? A ROM with the bare bones, and a program that has recommended extras from the dev. Tick what you want and it goes and gets from the Market. XDA member? Go and get stuff from there that is free for XDA members but not on the Market. That's how I'd do it if I were a ROM dev. Same for themes, part of the setup.
Guest tsddave Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 Give the guy a break. The apps can be removed manually if you wish. Im trying the rom at the moment, I removed the warez within minutes its not like there is much of it. Frankly I had little use for it anyway as I use other apps by preference. The creator is making a further release pretty soon and is replacing the launcher with Go launcher, which is my preference anyway. The rom is nice and smooth and has some nice tweaks.Im yet to test battery life ,gps and so on but from what others have said the battery life is very good and everything is working well. I would imagine that when he brings out r8 he will repost it here so you can all enjoy a warez free version of his work. I dont know how it compares to GSF but I will post my findings here soon once I have tested the rom for a couple of days.
Guest airs pl Posted July 24, 2011 Report Posted July 24, 2011 It is not based on GSF either. Both this ROM and GSF are based on Libra IIRC. This ROM is based on a Ginger Stir Fry beta11, which is the same as Blue Ginger V4! I am quite sure, after a binary comparison of the system and boot partitions. You have to be careful, because the system has 144MB in it (you do not have posted it on XDA) and does not fit on a 140MB partition, so it is advisable to remove paid applications :)
Guest will8578 Posted July 24, 2011 Report Posted July 24, 2011 Galorin, you need to get a desire mate, adamG has made a rom called devnull, and it is pure bones, its size is 42mb and you put all the crap you want on there, and people dont actually moan because there's nothing on it lol
Guest tsddave Posted July 24, 2011 Report Posted July 24, 2011 Ok did some testing today with this rom I did a 4.5 hour bike ride using gps with the app imapmyride. I refer to the app quite abit during this time. The battery drain for this was 30% which is much better than I was getting from cm7 N136. I would say as an estimate this is giving a batt saving of 15-20%. Everything feels that bit smoother with this rom also.
Guest leszekpap Posted July 24, 2011 Report Posted July 24, 2011 anybody have info when new version of this rom ( r8 elitemovil) will be available for download ? for me r7 is working great - only time not working for 24h option(FC) - always 12hours time....
Guest finbaar Posted July 24, 2011 Report Posted July 24, 2011 Now gone back to GSF as I found some games (Lets Golf to be precise) jerky. I am a complete ROM tart, I wish I could just settle down with one!

Guest tsddave Posted July 25, 2011 Report Posted July 25, 2011 I left my phone on overnight with this rom and it lost 1% batt life! I cannot believe it!
Guest airs pl Posted July 25, 2011 Report Posted July 25, 2011 Found out reading on another forum that the author says it's based on Blue Ginger V4. Yes, that is correct, because V4 Blue Ginger is also based on GSF beta11. I left my phone on overnight with this rom and it lost 1% batt life! I cannot believe it! That's right - the same at all based on the recent leak of kernel 2.6.35.7, if you have not installed a program awakening phone and eating battery ;) So the same thing happens at Blue Ginger or GSF ...
Guest tsddave Posted July 25, 2011 Report Posted July 25, 2011 This rom has the best battery life ive seen. I started the day with 35% and ive used the phone for lots of sms and a few phone calls. Each call lasted about 5mins approx. Also ive used apps for at least 1hour.Ive also done some internet surfing and youtube watching also with wifi on for about 30mins.So its been a fairly busy day for the phone. In this time (about 13hours) it has gone from 35% to 11%. Personally I find this amazing for a smart phone or maybe I just got used to cm7 battery life! Is this the same performance others have experienced with GSF or Blue ginger? I didnt know it got this good to be honest!
Guest Shieraz Shah Posted July 26, 2011 Report Posted July 26, 2011 Is this the same performance others have experienced with GSF or Blue ginger? I didnt know it got this good to be honest! GSF has the best battery life been using it for a while now.
Guest tsddave Posted July 26, 2011 Report Posted July 26, 2011 Have you tried Elitemovils rom? I cant see that GSF can be any better battery wise as they come from a similar source apparently.
Guest Huexxx Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 For those who want Elitemovil's ROM, I think that they could try HTCMania forum...
