Guest Cooled Spirit Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 Hello, I switched from Cyanogen to Modaco in the hope it would fix my problems. Alas, my phone keeps on freezing randomly while being in standby mode. Any idea what I can do or how I would be able to fix this ? WIth the original stock Rom, I got random reboots, which is the reason I switched to Cyanogen. That went well until a few weeks ago: the phone just froze (always during standby). I was hoping to get rid of this by installing Modaco (as it is based on the stock rom), but the freezing seems to remain. Any idea what I can do ? I also upgraded the baseband to 1035, installed an extra partition using Rom Manager, and fixed permissions, though I have no idea what th extra partition or the fixed permissions actually did. I was kind of hoping that installing Modaco would revert to the original situation and perhaps get rid of the random reboots as well (thus avoiding the freezes). I generated Modaco ROM FR19 in the online kitchen and installed it with ROM manager, backing up previous ROM and wiping everything. Could it be that something was not completely wiped/reset ? If yes, how can I do this ? The extra partition was 512 Mb, how can I revert this (perhaps this is causing some issues) ? Another, less important question: how can I disable all clicking sounds, but enable haptic feedback on every click I make ? Many thanks ! Cooled Spirit

If I were you I'd be inclined to use the nvflash util to restore back to factory defaults, then by process of elimination try to find out what's causing your handset to lock up. If it's an app then you can either contact the dev, or avoid it and use an alternative.. However, if it turns out to be hardware related you're due a replacement! 2) (not too sure where they are on CM, but they're here on stock) a ) System > Sound > Feedback > "Play Audible Touch Tones" b ) System > Sound > Feedback > "Audible Selection" Edited July 22, 2011 by jon.m.knight

So I switched to Cyanogenmod, which worked fine for a while (I updated regularly on new nightlies), until the device started to freeze (randomly and regularly) during standby. So I assume the freezes are related to latest the nightlies releases I upgraded to... at least, I hope they are. I guessed that switching to Modaco would prevent both reboots and get rid of the freezes. PS: I already traded my P990 for another one. Reboots kept coming... I hope this is a software issue and not a hardware issue. Kind regards, Cooled.
