Guest simonta Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 Long story but, I have a Nandroid backup from a previous version of CWM than the one I have now (3.0.2.4). I don't know what the previous version was. Problem is I get an MD5 error when I try to restore. Any ideas? Does anyone know where the MD5 is stored? I guess it's in the backup somewhere or, is it in clockworkmods config meaning I won't be able to restore without recreating the config? Slurpy kiss for anyone with a lead...

Inside my backups is a file called 'nandroid.md5'. Is it the same for old versions of CWM? My guess is that is the result of the hash, and the hash itself is in the config. Also, just found this site which tries to reverse an md5 hash from a database of keys. Edited July 22, 2011 by lesd

Take a safe copy of your backup, and then try renaming your backup from ROM Manager. It seems to generate new MD5 hashes on the fly during the naming process
Guest lesd Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 Take a safe copy of your backup, and then try renaming your backup from ROM Manager. It seems to generate new MD5 hashes on the fly during the naming process So, if the MD5 checksum is in the 'nandroid.md5' and the backup is not encrypted (MD5 doesn't encrypt) then renaming the backup with ROM manager will generate a new checksum which will allow the backup to be restored. If that works, Simonta owes you a slurpy kiss :)
