I have a SanFrancisco with the Ginger Stirfry ROM.

Planning to visit Japan later this year.

Does anyone know if the phone will work in Japan (if necessary with a local SIM).

I believe the Blade is sold in Japan but whether it is the same or has different hardware I dont know.

Tried Googling but nothing turned up.

You should try a NTT DOCOMO Sim they are best for rural and urban areas. Softbank on the other and only covers Urban areas well.

You're Phone will work only on the GSM Network 900MHz. You should already have the APN Details there that is if you are planning to using Internet there. Also Softbank use a Different Message Settings. Look at this

If you are planning to phone calling people from your local SIM. Beware Many Japanese Phone users prefer to text and e-mail. So Calling Plans might be expensive or very little minutes.

You could get a Lebara Mobile SIM over here. http://www.lebara-mobile.co.uk/prepay/rates

There are rates. Quite Good Actually. Lebara Mobile runs on the Vodafone Network here in the U.K. So you will proberly connect to DOCOMO.

Thanks.
