Guest shpal Posted July 24, 2011 Report Posted July 24, 2011 Hi, I turned on my phone this morning and all looked as normal. After I put in my code it I got the message "Sorry the application LauncherProp has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" with the option to "Force Close". If I force close I just get the same message over and over again. I have tried mounting my SD card but LauncherPro must be on the phone memory as I can't see it. How on earth can I delete the app and access my phone? Thanks
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted July 24, 2011 Report Posted July 24, 2011 in clockwork mod you can do factory reset or you can delete the app with Adb
Guest shpal Posted July 24, 2011 Report Posted July 24, 2011 Hi, I have tried to uninstall using app brain but I'm not certain how to do it? I have got my list of apps and checked "uninstall" for LauncherPro and it changes to "cancel uninstall" but it doesn't actually seem to uninstall it. I have also tried to reboot in recovery mode but the phone just hangs with the android man and doesn't get any further.

Then you can remove LauncherPro with ADB but with a GUI. Then you can push another Launcher e.g. the Stock one or ADW and hopefully it'll work. Edited July 24, 2011 by k0zmic

Do I download Android Commander to the PC and then copy to the SD card. And what is ADB and GUI? Thanks

And what is ADB and GUI? Thanks Yeah you download it to the PC, but you don't need to do anything with the SD card. Just plug the USB cable into the phone and computer and it should detect the phone. ADB = Android Debug Bridge. GUI = Graphical User Interface, it means you don't need to know the commands and type them manually.

I installed Android Commander but when I tried to run it is said my ADB didn't work and I needed to install Android SDK, I clicked the link and it downloaded two packages and I tried to install them but it has been uploading updates ever since ( almost an hour ) . Is this right? Thanks

You can cancel the updates for most of the packages, you only need Android SDK Tools, Platform Tools and Google USB Driver Package.

The 2 packages were android-sdk_r12-windows.zip and installer_r12-windows.exe I stopped it for a while but it is still downloading revisions to SDK Paltform Adroid...Thanks for your help, I just hope it works after all this!

Still no joy....sdk seems to have finished downloading everything but when I launch Android commander I am just getting the same message - saying my ADB isn't working and that I need to download android sdk... Guest chealsearock Posted July 24, 2011 Report Posted July 24, 2011 Well, I think that if you can access appbrain, then try to install another launcher - eg. Go Launcher EX. Then after it is installed, press the home button, and then choose Go Launcher EX to start. I hope this works!

Thanks for the idea but I can only access appbrain on the PC, so even if I install an alternative launcher I can't access it on my phone
Guest k0zmic Posted July 24, 2011 Report Posted July 24, 2011 (edited) Thanks for the idea but I can only access appbrain on the PC, so even if I install an alternative launcher I can't access it on my phone You might be able to use the Android Web Market to install another Launcher, assuming you're using a ROM that's 2.2+. It might send a push request that could initiate the download. Then try press home and you may be able to select another launcher. Edited July 24, 2011 by k0zmic

I have used app brain to install another launcher but it doesn't seem to push it through. I uninstalled LauncherPro as my first try at solving this but it hasn't pushed through the uninstall either.. When I push home it just says "no recent applications" Please do keep the ideas coming....thanks
Guest prestonmale Posted July 25, 2011 Report Posted July 25, 2011 HI, have you got the facebook widget running with your launcher pro? i get force closes all the time when i have it on my homescreen. you could try and press 'wait' instead of 'force close'. this usually works for me. good luck!
Guest shpal Posted July 25, 2011 Report Posted July 25, 2011 Hi, Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. In the end I managed to get into recovery mode using the volume DOWN and power buttons (I had been trying volume UP). I have done a factory reset and am now busy getting things back to how I like them. The only problem is, so far, that although all my apps are showing on the SD card when I use filer they don't appear in "manage applications" so I can access any of them. I will post about it and hopefully someone will have some ideas.
