how to input own phone number

when i look at seeing>about>status>my phone number it says unknown.

i would like to find a way to enter my own phone number since it is needed for google voice.

ive tried looking at my sim toolkit but no option will allow me to enter my phone number.

please help.

Where are you based? UK or U.S? if you live in the UK/EU you cannot use Google voice, If this phone is on contract i would take the phone back.
