Guest Lister Of Smeg Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 Hi All, Just spotted this from another forum.... some phones can multi boot Roms. It requires the Bootloader to be unlocked, not sure if ours are... but think it is. Anyway, I have sent them a message, you can see more from here... http://init2winitapps.com/stories/bootmanager.html Cheers, Lister
Guest Maxsas360 Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 Well thats only usefull for Rom devs only. But somebody should suggest to port it to zte blade
Guest hedgepigdaniel Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 Well the blade bootloader is unlocked, so I guess that should work. Not sure how it does it though, and whether it will be compatible with all ROMs. Also Blades have varying partition sizes because we have hacked the firmware to change them.
Guest hedgepigdaniel Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 It seems to me like it runs from the recovery partition (meaning you can't have it installed and clockworkmod at the same time) and whenever you boot into it and select a ROM it flashes the appropriate boot.img and reboots, then somehow reroutes /system and /data to their appropriate versions on the SD.
Guest t0mm13b Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 Reading their website - it sounds convoluted, maybe doable but to tell the truth.... Stick with Clockwork mod manager, makes things easier Odd thing is - have not seen anyone complain about the possible "re-routing" of mount points from a multiboot scenario....which I would be inclined to think its a hacky way of doing it for 2 euro imho, in other words, forget it and stick to the true and well tested method of booting... :)
Guest Lister Of Smeg Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 Hi All, I have already suggested our phone too them when I found it... ;) I am not sure too how it works, but saw it in another forum, and went straight there... looks like early days yet for this project, but they seem keen to work with as many phones as poss, and if ours can, why not... Sure, it may not be safe.. but thats not down to us to find out, leave it to the clever guys who know their stuff ;) I personally would like the idea, as I love CM7 for the features, but it kills battery so bad.. :( and our batteries are naff as they are. FroYo seems much better battery wise. So would be good to switch just like that, and not having to reFlash all the time.. :( lol I am happy to carry on as is, but would be good to see if this could work... Cheers, Lister
Guest t0mm13b Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 Please see this thread on this about bootloaders and why the above multiboot with that sounds hacky... Really, I think modifying the clockwork recovery to cater would seem a more viable and safe option.
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted July 29, 2011 Report Posted July 29, 2011 Please see this thread on this about bootloaders and why the above multiboot with that sounds hacky... Really, I think modifying the clockwork recovery to cater would seem a more viable and safe option. Yes a modified clock would be fine With an option boot rom n°1 or boot rom n°2 :)
Guest HMZX Posted July 30, 2011 Report Posted July 30, 2011 http://lifehacker.com/5826050/how-to-dual-boot-multiple-roms-on-your-android-phone Will this work? If the system positions are right, obviously.
Guest Maxsas360 Posted August 24, 2011 Report Posted August 24, 2011 Well I submitted ZTE Blade to supported list. I wrote this form http://init2winitapps.com/submit_device.html and waiting for the answer. I'll keep you updated.
